No idea what he’s like now but if anything like his best he’s better than more than half our options, but yeah not really a position of need. On a free and only 28 could be a shrewd acquisition or could be another Caceres. Any decent full backs on a free atm?
Ahh okay, he is deffo a Speedo from what I have heard. Like for like with Djenepo so someone we don't need him. Smallbone dies the same job as Armstrong albeit not to his level.. I think we should he looking at getting someone to understudy Armstrong or replace Redmond... like minamino if he performs consistently.
He had one good game for Leicester from memory, before they realised he was crap. He can run fast, not much else. A bit like Shane Long minus the heading ability. Would be a very big, and not terribly inspiring surprise.
Good rhyming slang for boozer though. “I’m off down the Ahmed.” Edit: Ah I guess it’s moo-sa rather than moo-za. My bad.
I see the guy I have been hoping Saints would sign, for the last 3 years or so, is still banging them in, after moving from Ghent to Lille. Canadian international striker Jonathan David. 28 appearances 9 goals this season. He would be the perfect Ings replacement, but probably out of our price range now.
Yeah, David was a fringe possibility before, but his next move is likely going to be a big one. He still isn't the finished product, but has grown as leaps and bounds and only just turned 21. The mere idea of being priced out of the market on Canada's second-best player is...still hard to wrap my head around. The second-best Canadian player used to be David Edgar or something.
In terms of a player moving from France, my comparison would be Anthony Marceal. So perhaps a few seasons at Saints for this 21 year old, could probably do him some good. Lol
Sasa Kalajdzic, the Austrian Peter Crouch (he's 6ft 7) is available at £15m from Stuttgart. to sure he's quite our type of player, but he scores goals.
I read this morning that Ings’ favourite football days were Champions League matches at Anfield, with the reporter predictably linking him with a move back to Liverpool. Stranger things could happen, especially if Salah is genuinely unsettled.** Plus it re-ignites the trend of Liverpool taking our best player. ** A swap deal maybe?
Well I can’t help feeling that if we are really serious about moving up a level we need a bigger squad this summer. Although I’m sure there is a budget already available, I think one big sale would be justified. Our recruitment seems to be back on track so less risk in sale money being wasted. So the question is who would we be prepared to lose who would raise a significant sum of money (as well as reduce the wage bill)? I really don’t want to lose anyone, particularly as the choice would appear to be between Ings and Vesty but if Danny is not that committed to staying (as he appears not to be) then the choice is a little easier.
