Probably already been mentioned over the past 4 pages but awesome as it may be, Father Ted isn't British and why isn't Only Fools and Horses on your list?

Reeves and Mortimer for me. <ok>

Only Fools and Horses wasn't even in Jo Brand's top 5 comedies of the 80's. Whoever put this poll obviously has the same opinion of it. Still funny after watching it 10 million times.

It's not edgy at all but it has the same appeal as The Simpsons, a family comedy that isn't targetted directly at kids. It was so well acted and despite all the fighting, you still felt great warmth from their family unit.

Now we have My Family. :(

Says it all for me. It's a chuckle but it's nowhere near the level of a vast number of comedy shows. Too predictable and got boring very quickly.

Normally a thread like this wouldn't get as many replies, you can tell its international week! I'm reluctant to clog up our board with more pointless articles (take heed Tash) so thought I'd just post this here - who are everyones favourite comedy characters of all time? There was a poll recently and Homer was #1, hard to argue with really but I think my vote would be for Arnold Rimmer, with Oz Ozborne, Del Boy, Barney Stinson and Alan Partridge close behind!

Monkey Dust is still one of my favourites. Got every episode on my home computer. Particular favourites would be the *****finder General, First Time Cottager and the bloke who's out having dinner with his lass and playing chess in his head <laugh>.
