Some serious questions need answering though as to how a UK born and raised citizen could make the decisions that this young girl made. Of course there were/are many others who followed the same path and it deeply saddens me that our country is failing to protect and properly educate children. For them to be radicalised under our very noses is something we should all be both concerned and incandescent about.
Unfortunately I don't have the answers, but I'm sure the forum will do their best to provide some useful suggestions.
These kids are not been radicalised in the school system.
This is obviously happening in their communities and most likely in religious circles. Those places/people who encourage it should be weeded out instead of reacting to the results of it.

This is what I see every morning when kids are in school.
Nearest secondary school to me...90% + white kids making their way to school.
Next nearest secondary school...90% + kids of colour, with familial ties to Pakistan, Bangladesh etc making their way to school.
Those numbers obviously reflect the communities closest to the individual schools.
As I said I don't have the answers, but this can't be good in my opinion.
