Fair play to him, he seems to have got them playing and the fans seem content for the time being.

But come on please don't over egg his achievements so far at his club, when they sacked Parkinson, Sunderland were 7 points off of the leaders Hull and now they are 8 points off of the top club Peterborough. It was never going to be tough ask especially given the position he took them over at to get them challenging.

Just imagine the outcry from a few posters on here had LJ been sacked with City 7 points off of the top club?

Peterborough are probably the best footballing team in L1 and if they hold their nerve they should get automatic promotion.
There are many other clubs in L1 chasing a top 6 place and nearly all are capable of beating each other. Consistency is the key in the run in and anyone putting a good run together from here on in has to be in with a good chance. Even Shrewsbury, currently down in 17th place but with games in hand could feature.

One decent season, thanks to LJ playing him up there apart from that fairly mediocre......Brownhill, Webster & Kodja had some good times with us, not looking to sell at all, but clubs came in with offers that couldn't be refused due to FFP....it wasn't setup that way how you refer.

You cannot have it both ways complain that LJ had his best players taken away and then claim that it wasn't set up the way I describe, it was very publicly set up the way I described, within the crumbled 5 pillars.

League 1 is always a tough ask as we well know....it's defo not a given

He did have his best players taken away, how I described is exactly what happened. The hope was they would be replaced with equals, which was never going to happen...............as we found out..

The hypocrisy is mind numbing, when SC took us out of league one in our record breaking season delivering a championship for the first time in most fans lifetime, it openly denigrated on this forum as being a nothing achievement.

And why exactly was that? Brentford and Swansea have both managed it comfortably and probably also Reading.

Oh you've forgotten about GJ then!!!!
SC's achievement was brilliant as most would agree on here......just couldn't handle the championship

What has GJ and SC in the championship got to do with this discussion?

I'm sorry but when discussed about 9 months ago at least 2 posters rubbished SC's championship season by saying the league was weak.

Both Swansea & Reading have had the success of the premiership in recent times and Brentford aren't there yet..
One club out of the championship you've named that's had less success in the past as we've had <doh>

Reading were relegated nearly 8 years ago and Brentford exist on a far smaller budget than us but their recruitment far better, they might not have been promoted but they have far closer than us. And the reason is poor decision making.

You can say that by a load of other clubs that's made the premiership.....our decision making has been poor since the 70s.

Hey FFS don't call me liar, I know what I read on this forum and it was people claiming it was a nothing achievement because it was a weak division.
Well I've never said it that's for sure......but the players we had and brought in at the time were certainly good enough to have a good season..
What they did do was gel and so SC deserves all the praise he got for that..

we will see what Nigel can do with them.
Likes to be called "Nige" !
What's quite fascinating about that performance for me is that the formation barely changed
maybe it was a time thing , players " whats left of the squad!" are now gelling and getting used to playing the system … comments on here in the past have sometimes highlighted the fact players need time to gell .. maybe fast rotation of games and little time in between has been the problem?
we will never know whether the board had held off another couple of games results would have been the same!
but we need those players, creative midfield and leaders on the pitch.. we don't have them now as LJ didn't have them last few years..
I believe NP will see that and will demand those players required......lets see if that happens!!
WHEN WE DID WE SOLD HIM!
