Yeah I’ve pretty much lost all faith in Bergwijn. When he joined he looked decent and scored that goal against City. Now he looks toothless and bang average.
Only caught the second half, thanks for the entertaining updates as always which have now brought me up to speed on the first half It has always been the case with Bale that you have to take the misplaced passes and half-arsed challenges in exchange for moments like we saw for our 2nd goal. Seldom few players in world football can plant a defender on his arse like that before finishing with such power and accuracy from an acute angle. Lamela would never have cut the ball back with his non-existent right foot, Lucas would hit it straight over and Bergwijn would accidentally dribble it out of play for a goal kick. Even Kane and Son struggle to score a goal like that. This is the loss/gain equation Jose needs to learn to accept. Much in the same way we accepted VDV's brilliance despite knowing he'd never put in a tackle all game and would be blowing steam after an hour, so what. Sometimes quality comes at a price and tbh Bale operating at 70% of his powers is still a damn sight better than most of our other attacking players. Jose hinted pretty strongly that he'd be involved against West Ham and I sincerely hope so. Lucas might have earned himself a starting spot but Bale surely gets the nod ahead of Lamela and Bergwijn.
Bale still has the ability to change a game in a instant even though he’s past his peak. I’d take a out of form, injury prone Bale over Lucas, Lamela and Bergwijn everyday of the week.
Provisional fixture dates for the current month are always on the "dashboard" of the season compass article.
This feels nearly like a copy and paste job of what I said on the transfer thread , completely agree though. It’s well worth sacrificing a bit of a grit and graft for sheer excellence. We done it with Berbatov and van der Vaart and they’re two players fans loved watching, we should do it for Bale too. Start getting him into the team more regularly and a good chance we get him back next season with a bit of luck, he won’t wanna return to Madrid but equally he won’t be desperate to stay here playing a bit part role.
Ain't keen on threats violence but tbh the player mouthed off at the ref who reacted...yet the ref is getting grief. Player should be apologising and being punished for being a mouthy twat tbh
Unnecessary? This is why I like Lamela and I suspect it's why Mourinho does, too. You're going to play it out nice and easily from the back and start a move? Nope. Not happening. Don't care if it's 4-1 in the 89th minute. If more of our players had this attitude, then we'd win a lot more games. Shame he's a complete crock and he dwells on the ball too long.
Bless him. He permanently looks like he's about to self-combust. He has 2 settings - Full Psycho...and Full Psycho Plus.
please log in to view this image Wednesday 24th February 5pm Europa League Round of 32 Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Another weekend, another Premier League loss, though the performance wasn't as bad as some of our recent shambolic showings. Our third game in seven days should be something of a formality, but I feel it's one that we need to win. Confidence in the squad must be at a real low and we'll probably be picking a number of players that don't start regularly. Mourinho needs to show that he can win a game and he needs to do it without those who are most reliable. Can we make some sort of statement and progress comfortably or will this be another slog of a game? Sunday wasn't a great day for Wolfsberger, despite them beating one of the bigger names in their division who are above them in the league. They scraped a 2-1 victory over Sturm Graz, but things weren't smooth sailing, by any means. Baumgartner gave them the lead in the first half and Siebenhandl made it a real uphill battle for Sturm by picking up a red card shortly afterward. Ivan Ljubic levelled things up before the break though, putting the 10 man side back into the game. Things remained that way until right at the death, when Dario Vizinger scored to nick the points for Wolfsberger. Aurier and Lo Celso are absent again, as is Rodon, who isn't registered for this competition. Peretz and Sprangler are likely out for the visitors, though Leitgib returns from injury. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon; Ndombele, Hojbjerg; Moura, Lamela, Son; Kane. Subs: Hart, Doherty, Alderweireld, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Alli, Bale, Vinicius. League form: LLLWLL. Wolfsberger: Kofler; Novak, Henriksson, Baumgartner; Pavelic, Sprangler, Taferner, Giorbelidze; Vizinger; Rocher, Joveljic. Subs: Kutin, Rnic, Scherzer, Stratznig, Wernitznig, Liendl, Dieng. League form: DLWLWW. Ref: Matej Jug (SVN). Reasonably experienced Slovenian ref. Took charge of Man Utd's 5-0 win over Leipzig earlier in the season. VAR: Marco Di Bello (ITA). TV: BT Sport 1. How would you like to line up for this one and what would you change from the West Ham game? Would you stick with much of the same lineup, make a few changes or go for a wholesale switch? Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Wolfsberger to go with?
I'd imagine we'll mix it up with a rotated side, fairly similar to the one we took to the away game. If they manage to balls up a 4-1 agg lead though then the players should retire on the spot, this isn't even RCL'ing territory, it'd be plainly ridiculous if we're not in the next round of the competition come Wednesday evening. Ideally Bale gets another 60 mins but then starts against Burnley. Hart Doherty, Tanganga, Toby, Davies Winks, Sissoko Bale, Dele, Lucas Vinigoal
