Again, not said out of any expertise, but I could see a situation where if kids were forced to try and catch up too quickly it would result in a lot of stressed out kids and a ticking time bomb for future mental health issues - on top of the difficulties many will have experienced because of the disruption of lockdown and for some, losing the only stability in their lives.

Not sure I want Boris in charge of that. He'll stick it on the side of a bus and promise us it will happen but five years later we'll still be trying to work out what has happened

I can live without pubs... but not holidays.
I hope he opens things up SLOWLY and steadily.
    Lockdowns are ****.
Oh I hope the Gyms open up first too.
    Good for mental health.

It's been a while since I've done a thread on pubes.
With no hotel stays for months it's like the Jackson 5 down there right now.

Would a staggered approach work with say the school holidays being reduced from 7 weeks to say 3? So kind of easing things in over the first 2 months. With teachers also allowed time off in the period?

Or does it make no odds?

Teachers don't get paid for the summer holidays.

BoJo can't afford to pay for teachers

Would primary school children suffer much if they went from say 6 hour days (actual teaching time) to say 5 hour days?

As for Secondaries I honestly don’t know what the right answer is. Apart from shaving off some of the less important subjects (honestly don’t know how you could do that mind) to leave the core subjects with more lessons on each. Maths, English, science, it, pe. History/art/re/ any others taking either a back seat or less lessons.

But I know it’s not as simple as that.

Ok. Primary school kids only have 5 hours learning a day same as secondary.

There is no need for any changes.

People are jumping on an imaginary bandwagon

I appreciate that. But rather than having 7 weeks off then why not move it around to facilitate the ease into normality.

And I’ve seen how much teachers get paid. I appreciate it’s a contract so don’t attack me here but teachers are very well compensated and rightly so. But as a nation there has to be give everywhere right?
