i cannot for the life of me think what bradshaw is being saved for, the ides of march perhaps. when he is fit and not playing for wales he shold be given a game. i thought marvin morgan had an off day on saturday. perhaps gornell and bradshaw up front at crawley.
I think Sharps hasn't quite looked the same since his injury towards the end of last season (Torquay first leg) when he was rushed back for the second leg, if my memory serves me correctly, and was poor in that game, and I think he had a Hernia operation after. I wonder whether this attributes to his dip?
Can't help thinking it might Lenny. Actually, I seem to remember he avoided having an operation in the end - maybe he should have had it! AJ - Enjoyed meeting you and matster on Friday and hope you didn't have to leave early and miss the winning goal. You do know Bradshaw was away with Wales on Saturday don't you? We weren't saving him. I agree Morgan was well below his best on Saturday and he missed a great chance for 3-0. However, it's always been clear that he'll miss plenty of chances but this is usually outweighed by his knack of making things happen - sure enough, there he was with the flick on for the winning goal. It's hard not to pick a player with the ability to do that, apart from which he remains our leading scorer by some margin. I'm sure we'll see him scoring again soon.
Sharps has been undoubtedly jittery since his AVOID of an operation and SHOULD be rested but with Hazell missing (Rene Howe the twat) we lack a leader/ braveheart to put his 'wedding veg' on the line(quote James May). Would've been simple. Sure that with time things will pick up but a rocket up the team's collective arse is needed for on Saturday. I've grown to love the sight of Marvin striding through defenses like a gazelle magnificantly- we lump so much up top that he's our only real option- Bradders is too slight and Collins doesn't use his strength as well as he could in the air. However it's wrong to say he's breaking away- he has 5, Collins 4, I think WRighty 3..? Good point is that we have more than one dangerman- we don't really have a star man. COYS, and 3 points on saturday would be just the tonic. Thankfully we rarely seem to play that badly twice in a row.
Fair comment ManFeelings except I wouldn't say we lump it that much. The first 2 goals on Saturday were typical of this season - no lumping there. The winner was but it was hit and hope time by then!
i stayed for the whole game and winning goal, as said a win is a win but our game must be substantially upped for saturday to avoid a reverse goal fest. yes i knew tom was playing for his country, and my original point was when is uncle graham going to give him a game from the start. if he is good enough for his country surely he is good enough for his club. give him a go up front with gornell. a rest on the bench may prove beneficial for marvin morgan and come to that wright as well
To be fair, the second goal was a hoof, then some [insert description of Ainsworth skill here], our own Odemwingie drove the ball in and Tez picked up on the weak clearance.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15233750.stm The second goal is clearly route 1!! Saying that though, it was good vision by Neal to get the ball out so quickly.
TBF, even the first goal had a hint about it, Jacobsen powered a header forward 30 yards and Gornell held it up then played it through. Looking at it, I wonder whether the keeper could've got there ahead of Richards had he sprinted for it straight away?
Also, watching those highlights, I am convinced that Grandison (and possibly Ainsworth as well) were offside for our third goal.
Point taken about the "directness" of our 2nd goal. I'd forgotten that. Just watched the highlights though and our 3rd goal was pretty clearly onside. The angle's not easy but, at the moment Morgan heads it on, Grandison looks to be played on by the guy in the right back position (they're level at worst) and Ainsworth has 2 or 3 defenders playing him on when Grandison touches it. The replay proves it was a very good decision.
