Yeah, I certainly wasn't making excuses for him. He's picking the wrong players, tactics and often subs, too.

They scored and protected their lead. In the first half we rarely threatened it. In the second we did.
The match stats make it look like we battered them, but that's why stats aren't to be trusted.
69% possession, 20 shots to 4 and most of the game played in their half. Doesn't matter if you give up two stupid goals.

Why allow him to kill what little chance we have with his turgid management.
He is a busted flush who should NEVER have been made our manager.

    Total record

    P50 W23 D13 L14 Pts 82
pts per game 1.64 which makes 62 per season.

    This season
Pts per game 1.56 which makes 59 per season.

Since 2005/6 (15 years ago) when Jol was our manager we have got less than 60 points 3 times.

    1. 2007/8 when we sacked Jol and put Ramos in.
    2. 2008/09 when we sacked Ramos and put Redknapp in.
    3. 2019/20 when we sacked Pochettino and put JM in.

This season is a disaster end of .
Pochettino was not sacked to give us this dross.
He has brought in 9 players and we have got worse.
If he is going to be given time to rebuild then it begs the obvious question...why wasn't Pochettino?

    Pochettino's last 50 prem games:
    P50 W24 D5 L18 pts 77

That's just 5 points worse than JMs record
So if sacking Pochettino was necessary then I do not get why JM is still here.

    Pochettino's last 12 games
    W4 D3 L5 pts 15

    JMs last 12 gamed
    W2 D3 L7 pts 9

The bloke is a Gooner, you would have thought we learned our lesson with Barren Dent. He is so bad, I would not be surprised if he is doing it on purpose.

West Ham were there for the taking when you attacked them in the 2nd half. They couldn't contain Kane, Son. Bale and Moura.
But you didn't take the chances.
West Ham are set up to be organised and hard to break down. When they tire in the 2nd half and defenders are drawn out of position, they do concede. Utd were in a similar position and came back to beat them by attacking them.
The tactics were right in the second half, but there wasn't the execution.

Can't argue with any of that - he should be sacked, but we know that all the time that we are still in Europe and with the Carabao cup final to 'look forward' to he won't be

There also wasn't a first half

The issue is that we were saying the exact same thing this time last year

The second half minus the first couple minutes was fine, we looked threatening and put them under a good bit of pressure, mainly because of Bale, he was very good again and got us moving, not forgetting his corner was the assist for Moura's goal but I think it's the fact that yet again, before KO, most of could've told you there were 3 or 4 faults with the selection and would've been proven right and I think that's why some are saying it was a terrible performance.

Harry Redknapp til the end of the season would suit me. At least the players would enjoy themselves.

I actually like it when Jose throws caution to the wind, Everton and today 2nd half.
What really pisses me off possession backpassing football. Everton beat Liverpool with 23% possession. Possession means diddly squat outside of the final 1/3rd.

Got no issue with that apart from..

    1. Reguilón, Bale, Hoejberg, Bergwijn, Vinicius, the wrong Fernandes, Rodon, Doherty, Hart plus signing Lo Celso on a permanent deal makes it 10 signings not 6.

    2. Considering how few of our signings have been worthwhile, let alone a success would we want him having yet another window (summer will be his fourth).

Yeah I've said that a couple times in my group chat.

Son, Kane and Bale would likely flourish under him, we'd still concede a shed load but games would be far more entertaining and playing to our strengths we'd probably outscore a good few.

The biggest problem is that the ubermensch surely knows that he has players who aren't suited to the football he wants to play, yet persists in fitting them into it anyway

We all knew this was going to be the case when he arrived, both in practical terms as it's very rare for a manager to land in a new job with a team with players suited to their style of play (Poch taking over from AVB is one of those rare examples of this happening) and in less practical terms as we've known for the best part of twenty years that he has to extensively and expensively shape a team in his own image to get what he wants rather than mold the players he has into what he wants, but when he he took one look at our squad surely he would have realised a compromise was what was needed as we don't have the GDP of an oil state to ease the transition between what he has and what he wants

And this is the other thing: in the early season people were noticing similarities with his Los Ladrones team as they were lethal with their high speed counters and there were certainly parts of our play that resembled what he did there, but recently the way we're playing looks like we're practising a minimal amount of combinations in training - and there is that one Indy journalist who outright stated this is what we're doing - and seeing how confused some of our players are looking when they have this round, white object kicked in their direction it's really starting to look like we're just playing five-a-side in training to stay fit, because it doesn;t look like we're working on anything else at this point

I don’t think 50 games is long enough to judge really. But he can be judged on whether he is delivering what he promised when he came and the answer is no. Unless he was told to win a trophy and nothing else matters.....which I know 8s the majority view on here.

The point about possession is that the opposition can't score if they don't have the ball so goals against goes down as possession goes up. Possession in itself doesn't make you more likely to score though. I agree with you in that I was happy with the way we played today, except for the finishing.

Honestly can not describe how abject the first 50 mins were.
The rest papered over the cracks.

It's forgivable if it's once in a blue moon but almost every league game involves one half of mind numbing dross with a team that look like strangers learning to play the game.

Everton (dross throughout) L 0-1 Southampton (1st half dross) won 5-2
    West Ham (h) (2nd half dross) D 3-3
    Leicester (dross throughout) L 0-2
    Palace (2nd half dross) D 1-1
    Burnley (dross throughout) W 1-0
    WBA (a) (dross throughout) W 1-0
    Wolves (a) (dross in 2nd half) D1-1
    Brighton (h) (dross 25 -70 mins) W 2-1
    Fulham (2nd half dross) D 1-1
    Brighton (a) (dross throughout) L 1-0
    Chelsea (h) (dross throughout) L 0-1
    Liverpool (h) (dross throughout) L1-3
    City (a) (dross throughout) L3-0
West Ham (a) (dross throughout) L2-1

    Newcastle...meh second half D 1-1
    Arsenal...Meh second half W 2-0
    Chelsea (a) ... Meh throughout D 0-0
    Liverpool (a) ... Meh throughout L 2-1

    Played well throughou
    Sheffield United W 3-1
    City (h) W 2-0
    WBA (h) W 2-0
    United W 6-1
    Leeds W 3-0

Think that's a pretty fair assessment.

Not sure any fans would find would accept that ****e.

    You got kind mates <laugh>

    I agree and disagree

The more possession Spurs have the more chance we have of giving the ball away in a dangerous position and concede goals. Best for Spurs is opponent has ball in opponent half, gives ball away, quick break, Spurs score.
