Lads I've got a bit of a confession. You've all been thinking that of late we are playing well because of LJ's tactics but it's because I haven't been wearing any Sunderland t-shirts I own. Ever since I stopped wearing them we haven't been beaten. I'm sorry for all the inconvenience I've caused and I'll keep off the t-shirts till the summer
I’d settle for coming second behind Posh, it’ll take some effort but you wouldn’t write us off just now.
Still Peterborough to beat for me, think they are the most balanced side in the league. Hull will keep the pace, Lincoln will fall back. Its Peterborough and Hull we are chasing.
Long way to go, but I think we are playing for a place in the play offs. Hopefully (for once) we can go into the play offs in good form
I think automatic can still be done, we have to play everyone above us still just about, we’ve had a massive lift. I wouldn’t fear the playoffs for once but I hope we don’t need them.
Noticed that. 18 games is 54 points we can still be in top 2 if we continue to play well and above all with energy.
We need a ridiculous run of form to make up the 7 or 8 points. It's do-able but I have my doubts about the mental strength of this team
Players really seem to be clicking with the style they’re expected to play now, it’s gonna be tough, but there’s no reason why we can’t push on. Sanderson was class today and Gooch pulled out a performance after he’d been poor for a few weeks.
Loved our attacking play today. I think we are slowly progressing into a very good team. We are no longer just lumping in aimless crosses. Still getting lots of crosses in but the quality of cross and movement in the box is much better. We are also mixing it up more now. going narrow at times through balls into the box and inside the fullbacks. We'll score lots of goals in this league. Onwards and upwards
looking forward to watching this again with a cool beer i missed a fair bit typing here while the match was on
I think there’s been a noticeable shift there recently. We’ve had a habit of going flat when we concede then gradually growing back into games, hence the draws. Midweek was a prime example, soon as Lincoln scored we went up a notch, lads weren’t having it. I think we are starting to really show a bit now. I like LJ, I like his adaptability and unlike the way he talks. Still early days for him but there’s a visible shift for me, even when we aren’t really playing well you fancy us to do something. It is a gap, but it’s just under half a season to chase down teams that we are better than man for man.
We neednt worry about the table at present. If we put any sort of run together we can fly up there. Teams are beating each other - if we can avoid defeats from whoever we are still to play in the top six we could be a dark horse for top 2. Look at the results over the last few weeks will show that whoever goes on a run from now will probably go up automatic. We are more than capable of that team being us to go up.
2 points a game gets you promoted, We are 9 points off that as it stands, We need a huge run of wins to pull that in and then need to maintain it. We need to win the next 9 games to get up to 2 points per game. Then we need to win 5 of the last 9 to maintain it That's 14 wins from the last 18 to go up automatically. Do-able but very unlikley
I downed a strong bottle of red watching the match and with it being my daughters Birthday, may have a couple of whisk and cokes now..
Definately feel like something has changed in this last week - maybe LJs coaching is starting to have an effect and the confidence is growing. I'm feeling positive after that result - the typical sunderland way is to get us all excited after the take over then kick us square in the nuts with a defeat today - that didnt happen and if anything we looked pretty comfortable over the 90 mins. I fancy us to go on a run now and push further up the table over the next few weeks. Hull are definately catchable and we have 2 games in hand over them. Win them and its game on..........
