I used pop in there for a sarnie whilst waiting for a job at Canary Wharf. A bit of a dump compared to the surroundings...

Darren Grimes is trending because the same people who relentlessly talk about the importance of mental health not being a "stigma" are abusing Grimes because he is a conservative who opened up about his mental health struggles.

Nobody deserves to suffer with their mental health.

But he’s an attention-seeking little **** who has been chewed up and spat out by Tufton Street. Honestly one of the worst people in the country, so **** him.

I think you can be a generally kind person and still loathe individuals who merit it. If he’d been picked ahead of Harwood he’d be spewing his usual bile rather than seeking sympathy and moving back in with his mum.

You have a point but I really don’t get the loathing for him ? What’s he said that is so bad other than having a different opinion to yours and mine ? I genuinely don’t know

EU to allow continued data flows to UK following Brexit
    By Reuters Staff

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Friday Britain’s data protection laws were in line with the European Union’s and that it would start a process to allow a continued flow of police and financial data from the EU to Britain for the next four years.

Financial data flows are important for businesses and police and intelligence services to be able to exchange records, even though EU data protection laws no longer bind Britain following its departure from the bloc last year.

But London has already incorporated the EU regulations into its own laws on personal data protection and the EU will now check again only in four years whether they have diverged from the EU before another extension, the executive Commission said.

“Ensuring free and safe flow of personal data is crucial for businesses and citizens on both sides of the Channel. The UK has left the EU, but not the European privacy family,” Commission Vice President for Values and Transparency Vera Jourova said.

“At the same time, we should ensure that our decision will stand the test of time,” she said, promising “clear and strict” monitoring and review mechanisms.

Before the EU formally grants the adequacy status to British laws, it needs to consult its European Data Protection Board and get a green light from a committee composed of representatives of EU member states’ governments.

This should be completed before the end of June, when an interim arrangement for data flows after Brexit ends.

Britain welcomed the Commission’s move as a reflection of its commitment to high data protection standards.

“I now urge the EU to fulfil their commitment to complete the technical approval process promptly, so businesses and organisations on both sides can seize the clear benefits,” said Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Surely that’s enough in itself :azn:

To be honest there are more important dislikeable figures in the industry of saying things to court controversy. Julia Hartley-Brewer, for example.

No there’s no one thing he’s done that is that terrible. He’s not killed anyone. The massive donations he received as a small fry Brexit campaigner were more than a bit dodgy. The Starkey thing was pretty awful but more for Starkey. Since then he’s spent the best part of five years cheerleading for the other right wing ‘commentators’ despite no obvious journalistic ability himself having failed to complete a fashion degree yet working for various mysteriously-funded right wing sites, so he’s in the pocket of someone or at least was until now it’s been decided he’s not needed. Cheers relentlessly for the worst, cruellest Tory policies then cries mental health yet still found time to write something very obviously dog whistling yesterday on people requiring ID to vote. People might not like Femi but he thinks for himself and isn’t trying to get rich by appealing to the dregs of society.

It certainly can be if you work nights and in certain areas. I always started early and finished early, not worth the hassle doing pubs and clubs like the late shift. Can't say I miss it now, especially with the roads all f*cked up with LTNs...

Well he used to be a Lib Dem before the money started coming in to be all shocking and borderline far right. There was the calls for violence in the streets instead of a second referendum. The endless thinly-veiled race baiting rhetoric. Can I not just dislike the **** for being a ****?
