Stuart Wardley?
The wizard of Saffron Walden. When he was the big signing of the summer you kind of knew things were rough. I can’t even remember if he was any good.

Having read the above, clearly not.

I have a bit of deliberate amnesia about that period.
I kinda remember him as a bit of a grafter with the occasional brilliance

Wasn't he a furniture removals bloke plucked out of the lower leagues by Gerry Francis? I think he started well for us scoring in six or seven of his starts. I remember chatting to him in the changing room, he was reading the matchday programme and eating a bag of crisps. He couldn't believe his luck. He was always the first player to arrive at home games. After the initial flurry of goals he was soon found out for his lack of pace and positioning and was shipped out to Rushden and Diamonds and faded into obscurity. Nice gig while he had it though and something to tell the grandkids. I wished I'd achieved that playing for us.

Emmanuel Ledesma. We only ever had him on loan I think, but he was a lovely skilful player. He never really made it, sadly.
Just looked him up, wow he’s been around, playing in Finland now I think, never had a good run anywhere except perhaps a couple of years at Middlesbrough. Less than 250 games in a long career in terms of seasons.

Never fulfilled his potential. Think he knocked an English bird up and hung around for a while and looked like he was going to do something at Boro. Now playing in Finland, of course.
