Sorry mate. I don’t think ‘minutes on the pitch’ has made the difference between Mbappe and Haaland and Tyler Roberts <laugh>

And he's fairly unique too. Loads of players can play DM well. We have some. A much, much smaller number can pick out passes from deep in their own half. When it comes to being able to do both at a very high standard, you start to struggle. And we are! :) Solution? Erm, ... in Bielsa we trust! :)

We've been a touch unfortunate with the injuries WJ.

Bielsa planned for Phillips being unavailable by signing Koch who's played the role recently for Germany & Llorente who apparently is equally capable. Let's see what happens when we have them both back, which shouldn't be too long now <ok>

Exactly but at least we know Roberts will never be a top world player, but should make a very good living somewhere. Saka at Arsenal is only a teenager and plays in the Prem and Europe nearly every game. If we spend a lot of cash on a few top kids like we have you suspect the plan is to play them in the first team at some stage. Or are we running a top academy as a way of covering up spend due to FFFP rules, or are we in it as a business venture and revenue stream, selling kids on?

A couple of examples of late developers were Ian Wright and Jermaine Beckford, who were both in their mid 20's before their careers took off.

Sometimes for certain players it all comes together at a later stage.

I think its being run as a business, not all in the academy players will make the standard required, however there are a few more leagues not just the PL . And a lot of lower down clubs are looking for these players not quite up to PL standards but excellent buys for the championship and leagues 1 and 2 also the Scottish leagues.SO there is money to be made also loaning out plyers some of the top clubs have 60 or more players on the books, not all will make it and the majority will find good work lower down, around 1 in 50 is the standard needed, better scouting is required to get these players signed in the first place

There is a big difference between being accountable and having things in place to hold users accountable when needed. While offering complete anonymity there is no consequence to peoples actions.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying. Does a jaikie drinking Buckfast in a dark alley give his name to the Monks of Buckfast Abbey before getting slaughtered? Nope, he is anonymous to them. Are you advocating that he should register his details with them so that we have "things in place to hold users accountable when needed". Really? That's a very fair comparison. Registration for everything would make the job much easier for police, but would the public stand for registering their golf clubs in case they beat a burglar to death?

So what's so different with social media? Why take our rights away only for this? Why not take your details for everything? Ridiculous? Of course it is, but so is singling out one activity.

Norman whiteside. A 25 year old in a 16 year olds body. Don’t get hung up on age. Players develop mentally and physically at different ages. When they’re ready to play they’re ready to play.

And with some exceptions players progress from junior superstar to senior superstar is a very rocky road. It happens but many junior internationals never make it.

even haaland.. there was noise abut him before he went to Salzburg... the big clubs felt he had technical deficiencies so didn’t take a punt.

It’s not clear to the experts who watch them every day, so why a bunch of keyboard warriors think they know who’s ready ;)? Chuck them in too early and you can destroy confidence. We clearly have some guys who look they could be ready. That’s the club’s call. If they’re not sure they can ping them out on loan for experience of man’s football and recall or flog depending on progress.
