I agree here. If we are down, he's damaged the goods. In his tacky stores if there's a rip in one of his items of clothing they mark it down and flag the damage. No different with the club. Ashley will have 3 choices: 1- stay in charge in the Championship and have to spend to get us back up 2- stay in charge in the championship and spend nothing and accept his revenue and the club value drops considerably as we simply become a mid table championship side (the advertising for his stores is worth a lot less and is less impactful too) 3- cut his losses and sell at, say £250m which probably means he doesn't actually lose any money... he just doesn't get the extra bunce. He probs also has a clause on advertising his ****ty shops for 1-2 years so this is the only scenario where his advertising value is at least maintained. Ashley is anything but stupid.. he's a clever businessman who wants to extract maximum value out of everything he does. The only option in town is option 3. I wouldn't be surprised actually of the deal he's done with PIF has a relegation clause in which triggers a lower payment if, before completion relegation happens. Sometimes we need to look at the known facts and Ashley uses NUFC as a promotional vehicle for the Fraser group and desperately wants out of NUFC. Charnley has also cleared his desk and is effectively furloughed. Looming on the horizon is the fact that fans will be allowed back into SJP next season so he won't want the toxicity that will being if he's still in charge and we are in the championship.
