Could be worse: Leverkusen came from 3-0 down to equalise, only to concede in the 89th minute

Also, Krasnodar/Dinamo Zagreb is a banger

We won. We scored a couple of good goals.
But, my god, that performance against a bang-average Championship level team said more about our weaknesses and ****e decision-making than about our strengths.
Is it just a confidence thing or something more fundamental and ingrained?

Would like to think that’s earned Bale a start for the weekend but we all know it won’t.

Don’t think Dele done anything of note. Won’t have given Jose much to think about.

My favourite player Winks had a pretty solid game and didn’t do much wrong, same can’t be said for Sissoko though who 2nd half especially was woeful.

Bergwijn was pretty useless when he came on. What an earth has happened to the kid that burst onto the scene in Jan 2020?!

Lamela sort of proved my point on the transfer thread, he’s a grafter but he has nowhere near the quality of Bale to make things happen, done okay though.

Vini was barely given the ball when he came on but still managed to score. Amazing what happens when a striker gets a sniff.

Good win and result, some sloppiness and complacency though in that second half made it a little bit more difficult than it should’ve been.

    Edit:

Forgot to add Hugo made a great save which will hopefully have done his confidence some good after some poor blunders of late.

Hoddle seems to think the shot was scuffed. For such a great player he doesn't half talk some ****e.

Darn, just sat down to watch the game. These early kick offs always catch me out.

I said virtually the opposite a few comments ago.

Bale did some good things in the first half, but also had some really poor touches and gave it away when under little pressure.
He totally disappeared after the break, though he wasn't the only one.
Alli did well, worked hard, pressed effectively with Son, made some good passes and got into dangerous areas.
I thought he had a much better overall game than Bale, though the Welshman had more impact on the result.

Most players had decent games against some poor opposition, apart from Sissoko and Bergwjin who were poor. A great save from Hugo, a clumsy penalty given away by Sissoko and some nice stuff from the rest at times, but they did not have to get out of second gear really and should have scored more. Bale and Dele showed their quality but they need a run in the team to really tune up their levels. A confidence boost at least ahead of The Scammers.

Bale was the best player in the first half for me, goal, assist and according to stats he also created the most chances of any Spurs player in the game, could’ve had a second goal in the second half too but the keeper made a good save. Agree he dipped but most of the team did.

Dele was pretty lively in the first but there never seemed any real danger from him other than the nutmeg and shot. Good commitment but no end product, gave away quite a few passes too - though so did a lot of others. I didn’t see anything too special though. Bale, Lucas and Son were all better out of the four front players.

Of the fringe players, Winks probably had the most solid performance of them all, he was neither the best nor worst on the pitch but his performance didn’t dip like others. Though being brutal, this is pretty much his level, he’s not done too much wrong in the Europa this season.

His punditry is embarrassing. And don’t start me off on his dress sense. Tonight he is wearing a brown jacket, brown cardigan and blue shirt <doh>.
Men who wear anything brown should be shot.

I was going to say that this is a bit harsh, but then I thought about it and realised that I don't own any brown clothing. Shoot away. <ok>

Totally bereft of confidence, I thought he looked a bit chunky too (I should talk), but seems to have lost a yard of pace and is playing like a poor mans Lucas, which is not a great look!
