Well quite possibly my first snippet in about 20 years since Mr Kilbane was at the club but I have been told its all gone through. Money being spent on the academy and stadium upgrades happening as we speak, just tarting it up but happening now.

 

Recently has there has bern clubs that have been investigated for this, Derby rings a bell not sure if there has been anymore? Down to it being sold for more than it was valued at if I remember correctly, which is odd given they are now in financial trouble aren't they?

 

yes - have to do it sensibly but still a way of getting money in.

 

I know there has been a clear move towards being run more professionally and effectively as a club with the appointments.

But carrying out some maintenance around the stadium and academy to bring the standards back up raises the level of professionalism to levels we haven't seen in decades. Things needs maintaining, repairing and replacing in these areas and allowing them to decay shows a lack of care and a low set of standards. If it seems like the owners don't care about maintaining their assets it will rub off onto staff and players.

 

Yeah, its unused at the moment so anything is money we weren't getting. I can only assume that his family and he have connections that will enable him to have some Man City type sponsors. Did they sell the ground name for 500million or something crazy and it was rumoured it was mainly the owners money anyway.

 

The anecdotal line from Johnson about when he joined he noticed all the clocks in the academy were wrong as nobody had replaced the batteries was the final straw for me. That's just ridiculous.

 

Will also be interesting to see if we return to Adidas kits considering his father's long time connection with Adidas.

 

was it not they sold the stadium to themselves for way over what a reasonable market value would be as a means of getting more money into the club rather than just naming rights?

 

The academy carpark is the fullest I've seen it for a very long time.. the team bus parked up too.

Within the last 30 minutes.. Just passed it on the way back from a fish (the size of a whale) lunch from Croziers and a nice view on a sunny day of the twin resorts of Roker & Seaburn.. It was rammed full.

Take it it's not normally that full on a Sky match day?

 

It is the day of a semi final mind you. But nice to hear its full and things are bustling either way!

It wont go, it'll be renamed "meaningless waffle", and become my new favourite thread.

 

Knowing that the academy was being properly maintained would definitely give the players a lift!

 

without doubt a dancing man. I am now very content, the annoucement can come whenever it likes. All going on behind the scenes. Its just a little thing that I have been involved with but KLD spotted it on Saturday and its trying to be rectified within a week. superb professionalism.
