Hull look to be on the slide. As well as teams above us with games in hand there are teams below us with games in hand. If we get automatic promotion I’ll eat hay with a donkey. Let’s just get in the play offs and take it from there.
I remember the same too at Tranmere. We have a great bunch of supporters in the main. Not just in mass but behaviour wise too. Something to be proud of. It's such a pity we never quite fulfilled our potential on the pitch. Maybe Kyle Louis Dreyfus can get us going and be that key to success we crave and deserve. Who knows, he's young and hopefully has the desire. I think he'll like us fans when we're back.
A bit more maths.. Where each club think they'd be if they won games in hand (to 28) 1 57 DONCASTER 2 56 LINCOLN 3 55 PETERBORO 4 54 PORTSMOUTH 5 51 ACCRINGTON 6 49 HULL 7 49 OXFORD 8 48 IPSWICH 9 47 SUNDERLAND 10 43 CHARLTON In the 5 away games we've played in that list, W3 D2. Just shows what damage those bottom teams have done to us at home
5 points off 3rd as well with 1 more played and 4 points from 5th with 2 more played. Just to add a bit of balance to your statement I think we can still do it but we need a very good run of form which we haven't looked like doing but if Oxford and a few others can put a run together so can we. Just need a bit of consistency which we also need in our team selection.
We won't continue to allow the lower teams to damage us ... ... we have 5 games now to turn the tide. We were also supposed to be poor at home, until yesterday.
Burton, Fleetwood, Crewe, Swindon, Rochdale. We have to be looking at an absolute minimum of 11 points , and in all probability 13 points from that lot. I won't say 15, that's not how football works. Feel free to bump if we do get 15 though.
They seem to be the types of teams where we've slipped up this season while doing better against the better teams (could be my mind making that up, would need to check properly). We need to average more than 2 points a game to get to the 85 point mark, not many teams go up automatically with less than 85 points, Doncaster and Bournemouth did in 2013, both with less but it's rare. This season could see a low points total but you usually find 2 teams go on runs towards to end that see them increase what they have been getting. We have to start our run sooner rather than later as we are pushing well into the second half of the season now. These games should be getting us now than the 2 points a game average we need. Hopefully we start performing against the **** teams as well desperately need to now.
.... and Rovers now 3:1 up vs Pompey. Just need Northampton to score to put Ipswich back a bit further
Bristol Rovers 3-1 Portsmouth Portsmouth were top and miles ahead of us at Christmas ... ... they're now only 4 points ahead and struggling. Every little helps.
7 points of 2nd now if we want to finish top 2 we can't afford to drop many more points. The next 5 games against bottom half teams we need at least 13 points IMO,
