There's more details here. Looks like he has some broken teeth, but hasn't broken any bones. Apparently came off his bike under heavy braking to avoid a car. https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/155003/alonso-set-for-surgery-on-teeth-after-cycling-crash
If Nikki lauda can be driving so soon after his horrific crash Alonso will be there in time for testing.
From what I read seems like he was passing queuing traffic on the right and a car turned right in front of him. He was in Switzerland so I guess driving/riding on right, therefore was he undertaking and someone turned in front of him? Not really drivers fault, well if undertaking is against rules in Switzerland that is? Anyway sounds like he has either broken jaw or taken out a few teeth. Sounds like he will be fit to drive, maybe not taking that much
Seems like teams unanimously voted for PU freeze as on 2022 till 2024. So Red Bull will be happy. The interesting thing is they didn't vote for any levelling up mechanism, so if someone makes a jump in power or efficiency etc before 2022 then the other teams have no way to 'catch up'! I am reading into that that Ferrari have found a way to regain their lost power after the FIA 'clarified' the rules. So 2021 season might be more interesting with the prospects of Ferrari having more power, Red Bull closing in on Merc as well we might get some good battles? Oh well I can hope Also seems to be some talk of Red Bull using the Honda IP to develop their own PU for the new 2025 regs! FIA are talking about removing some of the complexity of the PU for 2025 which I'm not that keen on. Yes the PU are massively complex but they are engineering master pieces. Maybe that's it, I want a PU that push the envelope but maybe that could be in less complex areas?
Personally with the PUs I'd leave the internal combustion much the same as now but allow more electrical output/recharging. Make it a sliding scale and tell the teams there will be a 5% increase every year etc. Pushes the teams in a direction we're inevitably heading in. Surely battery tech alone has come on a huge amount since 2014.
Low key from McLaren but I believe that is because the physical car is at Silverstone today for a filming day shakedown to get some installation work done before they head to Bahrain testing (which is only 3 days this year). I understand lots of key detail is missing on the pictures including diffuser so keep a keen eye out in testing! Merc engine has allowed a much more streamlined rear - il post comparisons to 2020 later on
Was funny watching the reveal and how they went out of their way to avoid showing the rear floor/diffuser. When Daniel and Lando were discussing it, they kept it fully out of frame. I don't think the version shown above is legal for 2021, doesn't look like it has the required floor changes.
Sounds like Force India / Racing Point old sponsor BWT is talking to Williams and Haas to sponsor them. So we might have Pink panthers again? I think Williams might be best bet as finishing last in 2020 should make sponsorship relatively cheap with prospect of moving forward up the grid being quite good. One one hand hope it's Williams to help them move forward but not sure I would like to see them not in 'their' colours.
A Pink Williams Still , if it helps them . FYI their new clothing range is out . No Title sponsor as far as I can see . Surprising as Daddy Latifi supplied it all last year .
For the "filming day" Williams ran at Silverstone recently, the car had a plain blue livery. Makes a bit of a mockery of it being a filming day if none of the footage will have the 2021 livery, but regardless, that would fit with the livery being undecided at the moment.
