Hello, everyone. So then what horses are we most interested in re tomorrows weights release for the old ‘Grand National’??? Top of my list are Santini and The Conditional. But will, I wonder, they still be at the top of the list once the old boy handicapper releases the imposts???

I think Aurora Thunder in the 12:30 at Carlisle is a bit overpriced at 22/1. The horse is a pretty consistent sort who usually runs well in testing conditions. Last time out over good to soft wasn't ideal. Blair Campbell knows the horse well. Only 2lb above last winning mark looks workable. Worth a small each way bet.

    Carlisle 1.35 On The Bandwagon

Well regarded by connections (cost 160,000 )as you can read in the Jonjo O'Neill stable tour on the racebets site:

"was as weak as a kitten last year but we’re hoping he’ll make up into a nice horse this year. He’ll start in a bumper but will get a trip when he goes hurdling"

Holds an entry in a bumper at Hereford tomorrow so its interesting that the horse has been declared overnight to start its career in this novice hurdle today. Must have shown something encouraging at home. Will be interesting to see if there is market support before the race.

0-110 handicap at 3 mile 2 over fences on heavy ground might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m looking forward to the 2:35 at Carlisle

This is extreme test of stamina and this race could be set up for an old boy, High Council, who loves these conditions and has excuses for his form this season.

He won three handicaps in a row last year, starting off 85 and finishing off 97. That makes it very interesting coming back to bad ground off 92, the mark looks very exploitable!!

He has form over the trip, in fact he has 4 mile form from Points!! The ground being heavy is a massive positive and I think he is massively overpriced at 33/1

The yard haven’t had many runners recently but the last two ran well enough to suggest the yards horses can run to form.

I’ve also backed Skipping On and Miss Amelia in the 3:35. The rationale being both coming from yards in grand form and have the ground form. I prefer the former but only marginally

11.10 for Santini Barney. A bit more than we hoped for

    10.6 for The Conditional

I know this was posted yesterday but has anyone had chance to read up the 'What would the perfect Cheltenham festival look like? post by Kevin Blake on ATR...??

Makes some great points in my mind, especially the dilution of the Mares races and the like it and lump it to the Triumph race and in a way the Bumpers race...?!

Interesting points, and will always give you talking points regardless of what you think the Festival should look like...

Interesting. I suppose that with fewer races there could be higher prize money?
