    Kick off wednesday 5:30pm

Name your team ladies and gentlemen.
The front three are all out of form and could all be dropped. Mayer doesn't appear to get a look in now. Scott has no confidence. Chadwick...well he’s local. Emmanuel doesn’t come on when we’re desperate for some inspiration. Crowley is a clever footballer but slows down every attack and doesn’t fit in with the forwards. Drop him and move honeyman back to where he’s most effective? And play who cm? Slater? No. Clark? Maybe worth a try strong in the tackle and as long as it’s a five yard ball he’s fine.
drop Coyle? Or play Emmanuel further forward in a 4-4-2? I would. With Clark or elder left midfield.
    so what’s your team?

    Ingram
    Coyle Burke greaves Clark
Emmanuel The Doc honey man elder
    Crowley
    Magennis

55 hours pre-game. You are spoiling us, Mr Ambassador!

    Ingram

    Emmanuel Burke Greaves Elder
    Honeyman Jones Doc
I dunno... let's try Wilks Scott KLP for a change.

I'm struggling to find a place for Crowley in the formation the gaffer likes (at least, not without weakening the midfield).

Given what he's got available, and his tactical stubborness (being polite there)

    Ingram
    Emmanuel Burke Greaves Elder
    Jones Doc
    Wilks Honeyman KLP
    Magennis

Crowley on when / if Honeyman tires or isn't performing.
Slater on when / if Jones tires (or if Jones isn't risked as a starter)
If Whyte was fit, I'd drop Magennis.

    City win.

The name Wigan has been dated to at least the 7th century and probably originally meant a "village" or "settlement". The name is Celtic, corresponding to the Old Welsh Uuicant. The name of the town has been recorded variously as Wigan in 1199, Wygayn in 1240, and Wygan in numerous historical documents.

It is renowned for transvestites,as most have a wigan address.

Birth place of Heinz baked beans, Pataks Indian foods, Potters herbal remedies and Uncle Joe's Mint Balls.

Thomas Beecham first manufactured his famous pills in Wigan. Marks and Spencer was born in Wigan when Michael Marks joined forces with Thomas Spencer in 1894.

As a sort of Hull connection, the folk-rockers the Tansads are from Wigan.

George Formby Senior first named it Wigan Pier.

Wigan's war memorial was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed red telephone boxes.

During its heyday, the town featured at least 1,000 coal pit shafts.

Wigan Borough has roughly the same population as Iceland.

Wigan has more pie shops per square mile than any other town in the UK.

The World Pie Eating Championships are held in Wigan every year and contestants from all over compete to eat a meat and potato pie in the fastest possible time. The current record is 38 seconds.

The 19th Century Coal-Owner, Lord Crawford of Balcarres had dinner services made from the unusually hard and clean 'cannel' coal found in his Wigan seams. He would amaze his guests by ceremonially burning their plates on an open fire after the meal.

Emmanuel seems to read the game better at fullback than when he is further forward, we seem to attack more when he’s there so him in and rest of defence the same. Coyle not done much wrong though I just feel we break quicker with Emmanuel in there. Honeyman Jones( if fit) and Doc. Forwards? Draw them out the hat, wasn’t Ingram a forward once if so stick him in the draw,

Assuming Jones is fit, this is what I'd go for, we're trying too hard to force Crowley into the team and Wilks plays far better off Emmanuel.

Last 4 league games, Crowley starts, we score once.

Accrington away, both Crowley and Whyte were on the bench.

Prior to that, Whyte starts three league games, we score eight.

We really need to get Whyte fit.

There's a few current links as well.

    Callum Elder

Loaned from Leicester to Wigan during the 17/18 season. Made 27 appearances.

    Jordan Flores
Was at Wigan for 5 years although loaned out on four occasions. Managed 11 appearances, 1 goal.

    Reece Burke
Loaned from West Ham to Wigan during the 16/17 season. Made 10 appearances and scored 1 goal.

    And the other way.

    Will Keane
Been at Wigan since last season. Scored 5 in 11 games.

Flores scored on his debut for Wigan then was sent off in his second match. Quite a start.

Emmanuel has to come back in, we just flow better with him and wilks playing down the same side, Ingram has to continue in goal.

    3-1 city

Coyle has done nothing wrong at right back, but the Emmanuel - Wilks right wing partnership was very fruitful in the past and I want to see Emmanuel back at right back as well. Coyle may feel hard done by but it will be the right choice.

I like this team - would also leave Crowley out, to come on as space develops. Only alternative for me would be just to play KLP and Wilks up front with Crowley at front of a diamond in midfield. That way have Magennis coming on for last 30 mins where he is often at his most effective (lack of pace less an issue as everyone's tired by then!)
