The Pfizer BioNTech vaccine achieves 94 per cent efficacy after the second dose, according to the first major “real world” study to be published on the jab’s performance. While promising data have been coming out of Israel for the last few weeks, the Clalit Institute for Research released results of the first detailed and controlled study yesterday (Sunday) covering 1.2 million vaccinated and non-vaccinated people. Clalit is the country’s biggest health care provider, covering over half of Israel’s population. The study found there was a 94 per cent decrease in the rate of symptomatic infection and a 92 per cent decrease in the rate of serious illness in those vaccinated, compared to 600,000 who were not vaccinated. Significantly, vaccine efficacy was found to be maintained in all age groups, including those over 70 - an age group in which vaccine efficacy could not be evaluated in Pfizer’s original clinical trials due to there being too few in this age group who participated.
I’ve had psoriasis since I was 5. Mainly elbows and knees, but at time everywhere looking like a leopard. It did seem to clear as I got older, but I had all the creosote smelling treatments when I was younger. As an adult it came and went, mainly dependant on weather. In summer clear, in winter it was back. Last couple of years I was going to go for light treatment again, but it was suggested by a specialist at Hesslewood Spire (NHS referral from the skin nurse at Castle Hill) I tried Exorex instead (I’d been using some foam steroid stuff -Enstilar-before that which was good, but never knocked it back long term) which worked much better and isn’t greasy and has no real smell (you use a tiny amount too) I went vegan not long after that though and never gave that any thought what diet had been doing to my psoriasis. I put all the improvements down to Exorex until I spoke to someone who said theirs has got better when they cut out dairy. Now I don’t know which has worked best but using Exorex and going vegan has caused me to have almost zero psoriasis. I don’t even bother using medication now but if I get a 10p sized bit appear I use the Exorex for a week and it goes. Good luck to anyone with psoriasis. It can be horrible, particularly when you’re young. Red meat, dairy, and eggs contain a polyunsaturated fatty acid called arachidonic acid. Past research has shown that by-products of arachidonic acid may play a role in creating psoriatic lesions. https://www.healthline.com/health/psoriasis/food-triggers-for-psoriasis#foods-to-avoid
"By Easter, as the data improves and people have been vaccinated, we'd like to see those [pubs and hospitality] venues open" says Steve Baker, deputy chair of the COVID recovery group.
its good that you've managed to control it dennis without having to resort to the serious biologicals. although having it young can shape your mental attitude for the rest of your life. never tried exorex, ill get some. ive tried just about everything else. i remember once smearing dovonex all over my chest not realising it made you hyper sensetive to sunlight. and then hours later when i went in the hospitals uvb cabinet, after about 5 seconds it was as if i had a flamethrower mixed with acid firing at my chest. id love to change my diet but i'm not even disciplined enough to eat wisely for my high cholesterol levels. dunno if my fellow psoriasis sufferers felt the same but when i had it bad i enjoyed getting home and shutting the door behind me away from all the stares. sanctuary!! it sort of turned me into a hermit and i think thats why this lockdown has actually helped my mental well being. nice to know everyone is doing fine cos for years psoriasis was a bit of a bu@@er to shift. back on topic ive just this very minute been rang by nhs asking me if i'd like to donate blood plasma due to having had covid. sadly i am not suitable due to the monthly biological injections. phew!! psoriasis to the rescue!! (i go a bit faint when having blood taken)
Yeah I used dovonex and assumed it just meant I’d get a lovely tan. Didn’t work like that! I don’t want to be a preachy vegan (but I am ) but it might be worth just cutting out dairy for a bit to see if it has any affect?
France and Macron are the problem. I wouldn't trust the word of any country who set fire to our sheep even if it was a long time ago... 'French farmers set fire to one truckload of British sheep, killing 219 of them. They poisoned 94 sheep on one truck, slit the throats of sheep on another and doused animals on a third truck with insecticide to prevent their meat from being sold.' From... https://www.nytimes.com/1990/09/17/world/french-protest-of-sheep-imports-turns-ugly.html
Just been diagnosed with the ‘Peek-a-Boo virus’... I’m being transferred to ICU. **** off, dad jokes are funny. Okay, I think that's my coat just over there...
Look into Jason Vale's story too. It won't be the solution for everyone, but it's a fact most people underestimate the effect of diet on health.
Husband who strangled his wife to death with dressing gown cord five days into the first lockdown is cleared of her murder after court heard fears of pandemic caused him to 'snap' Williams' anxiety increased after the national lockdown order was issued on March 23, 2020, and Mr Roberts said that both Anthony and his wife Ruth had been concerned about the virus. He told police he had suffered sleepless nights in the run-up to the attack due to 'trivial' fears including that he would run out of money because he was not able to attend his bank to take out cash from his savings. In a police interview, the pensioner said: 'I have been depressed lately, I don't know what's the matter. 'It wasn't murder and I didn't mean to murder her. 'I just flipped mate, flipped, it wasn't me. I wouldn't hurt a fly, it wasn't me, I'm not like that and I don't know what came over me.'
Well, Heinrich Himmler was a vegan and he had a lovely complexion. Mind you, he was a teetotaller as well. How far are you prepared to go?
Typical lazy journalism from HDM ... ER health official on Look North last night said the spike in numbers was due to over 50 cases being reported at the Wolds prison (which is counted as being in the South Cave area). When case rates are reasonably low it doesn't take much for a few cases at a factory (or prison) to skew the figures
