Anyone who watched the attack on the Capitol as it happened and Trumps addresses to his supporters will always link the 2 together. The rioters were there at Trumps behest, he is guilty of urging his followers to attack and disrupt the business of government to peacefully hand over power from the Republican party to the Democrats. At the very least it's sedition and he should be dealt with like any other citizen accused of such crimes. The key to this is will someone like Mike Pence take legal action against Trump for putting his and all the other senators lives at risk as well as the lives of Capitol workers and the day visitors that were present.

I don't think there is any doubt that Trump was guilty. The problem was that with a two thirds majority required, there was never going to be enough republicans to vote find him guilty, especially when those that have spoke against Trump have received death threats and also threats to vote them out of their positions.
