To me it further highlights who does, and has made the calls on who we sign. Clearly MA thinks we have the squad to be challenging, if not get promotion, is that blind faith, or because they are the players he wanted, so will blame any, and every manager who can’t deliver promotion with ‘his players’?
Jon Lansdown & Mark Ashton both believed the squad we had was good enough to challenge for the top spots.... That goes against the grain to many on here!! Like you say Supercon, the coaches they put in place is where the blame lies...according to them!! That say's to me, we are in desperate need to employ someone that has knowledge of football, failing that we are a sinking ship with a nice stadium!!!
I accessed my phone this morning thinking he would be out off his misery. I just hope they are talking to potential managers-if not bottom six is where we are heading-hoping we can stave off relagation.
We'll stay up. Don't get me wrong, we're absolutely awful, but we only really need 10 points or so to guarantee safety compared to most seasons. April has lots of opportunities to pick up a win or 2. But that's it - we'll stay up with more dross for the rest of the season and nothing more than that.
The reality is, if you're a coach and they believe the squad is good enough....what can you do? Like B&W says, we sold all of our best players under the coaches nose..
Nothing to do with coaches. You quoted Jon Lansdown and Mark Ashton believing our squad 'was good enough to challenge for the top spots'. If you believe in their football knowledge I pity you. It certainly goes against my 'grain'. And most on here.
I agree 100% My wording I realise wasn't great!! When I said "they" I meant Jon Lansdown & Mark Aston...... I'm saying exactly that.....If you're a coach in that setup, what chance do you have? LJ, Deano & alike.. Goes against my grain too....they need to step away and allow football people who knows what they're doing to get on with it.
Again I have to say that when you accept a job with your eyes wide open, knowing exactly where your place in the grand scheme of things actually is, you cannot bitch about it or use it as an excuse at a later date. Which is exactly why I find it difficult to respect people who have little or no respect for themselves. The problem is they like too many players they look at the potential bank balance and forget that usually the last action at night before trying to get some well earned sleep is cleaning your teeth and having to look at your own reflection in the bathroom mirror and personally reflect that reason that everything is going wrong with your job is because you signed your integrity away when you signed on the dotted line and when a smarmy man in a suit says "the manager makes all of the decisions concerning the playing side and has the last word on transfers" etc. and so forth, you have to agree with him it's SL's and Ashton's law. And by the inaction since last night will ever be so.
There are so many on this site spouting the home truths so is it any wonder why they are so angry? The suits as they are called are destroying any chance that Bristol City will ever have of employing a decent manager because who would walk willingly in to the snakepit called Ashton Gate? It is now so clearly obvious that our leaders are playing a stupid dangerous game and the outcome could be a lot worse than any of them could possibly imagine. Sad days for all supporters and don't expect our leaders to wake up this season or indeed in the immediate future to put a slowly sinking ship on a better course.
that is the key … I keep reminding ..........BCFC now uses a head coach … not a manager …. they might get a say but that is all … " I want so and so" … without approval of the purse strings easy not to get a player …. offer him pea nuts, who is to know? plenty rumour starters around that would come up with " he wanted £xxxxx pounds a week tax paid or such like … so fans none the wiser and a lot fall for it!
Well it depends, but if you do you know exactly what you are signing on the dotted line for. Plus perhaps another way of looking at it is, if you believe that you are all that, then wait for the job where you can keep your integrity intact or maybe dictate your red lines.
Sometimes you have to take up on the opportunity when it arises......and if you don't then you might never know if you would good for it..
I can only talk from my personal experience, I walked away from a job I considered to be the best job in my area of expertise within the organisation that I worked for, because I couldn't take the politics, bullshit and lies anymore.
Just watched the goals, as the saying goes, when you're down, nothing goes your way. 2 from massive deflections, 2 from poor touches by City players and no pressing, and a goal so far offside it's laughable. I know we created nothing, again, but reviewing the goals, we were very unlucky to lose by 6....
I think the saying says you create your own luck and the stats suggest that our form is feck all to do with luck. The bad luck was that us fans were lied to, bullshitted and mugged off by 10 weeks of SL/Ashton smoke and mirrors, I have no issue with Holden other than the signings so far (I will excuse Williams) I have no issue with the players who are trying to give their 100%, but clearly not good enough, my issue is mainly with the few who don't give a **** and I could certainly pick 2 out from Saturday and the person/persons who signed mainly ****e players in the past 4 seasons.
