88 mins GOAL: Reading 1-3 Brentford Ivan Toney Game over! It's a sucker punch for Reading who were pressing hard for a leveller. Sergi Canos takes aim from outside the box with an effort on his right. Rafael gets down well to parry, but it falls right into the path of who else, but Ivan Toney. He tucks it home on the rebound for his 23rd league goal of the season and the points are well and truly Brentford's. 86 mins GOAL: Reading 1-2 Brentford Josh Dasilva What a move. What a goal. Brentford are heading two points clear at the top as it stands and two-goal Josh Dasilva is sending them there.Reading have pushed so well, but Brentford's prolonged spell of pressure finally pays off. A long searching ball in from the left from Mathias Jensen reaches Ivan Toney at the back post, he chests it down and Dasilva latches on to it at pace to fire it into the roof of the net. Unstoppable.
I watched Blackburn v PNE last night, and the win for the away side didn't do us any harm. One thing I did notice was that the pitch, although not bad, was nowhere as good as the one at the Vic. Could this have a bearing on why we seem so poor when we go away? The game was a real scrap, no nice flowing football, in fact a typical Championship game. I did wonder if we have set our expectations too high when we complain that the standard of football from Watford is not what we would hope to see. Certainly next Tuesday when we travel to Preston will not be a walkover win for us.
I guess that is why we don’t see the best of Sarr for example . The ball doesn’t roll freely and he cannot dribble with it effectively .
The pitches away have been complained about all season: Bumpy, grass left longer, pitch narrower, heavy going etc etc. We have a Wembley pitch compared to most of the other teams pitches. Some of those clubs do it on purpose to gain an edge against better teams.
Our pitch is beautiful, you could play cricket on it. Top marks to the grounds people and employment of top technology.
I have been keeping half an eye on that as well. It is almost as bad as watching us hanging on to a 1-0 lead at home to Barnsley.
Brentford play the best football I have seen so far in our division. Didn't do them much good yesterday. It's definitely more fun being in this division. I wonder if they have a collection of miseries for supporters like those who infect the Wobby after every game.
We should consider ourselves lucky Scousers are all on suicide watch after this weekends results We play Swansea and Reading at home, plus Norwich, Brentford and Bournemouth away, it is in our hand hands ad we showed yesterday what we can do without Deeney Munoz has to be strong and choose his best players in the best formation
Three of our last five games - Norwich and Brentford away + Swansea at home - of the season will be testing - it's almost as if the FA predicted the likely situation... To be honest, the other two - Luton away and Millwall at home won't be particularly easy either. Best we not drop any points between now and then...
