the one thing i would say about the man united thing at least they paid good money for all them players (maybe not optimum for van persie) Aren't most of bayerns good signings basically done on a free when the players are out of contract?
It depends When it came to Lewandowski, Hummels, Goretzka and Pavard they let the players run down their contracts On the other hand, they paid the release clauses for Gotze, Upemecano, Kimmich and Sule The issue is, as born out by one of the lurkers, German fans have this mentality where it is a privilege to sign for Bayern, with said lurker proudly stating that one day Julian Brandt would leave Leverkusen for Bayern - so hopefully they were pissed off when Brandt signed for Dortmund instead. On the other hand, that mentality doesn't exist among English fans...although it certainly exists among English pundits
Sven Botman's being linked with a summer move once more If only their name didn't make them sound like a Swedish twitter troll...
One day football fans will learn that standing up and turning their backs en masse is a possibility...
They should've made up a song ****ing him off. I heard that they were going to, but then they tried rhyming his name with things and gave up.
I'm referring to the 'goodbye' ceremony they held for him at the end of his last season there, after he'd run down his contract with the explicit aim of joining Bayern - their main rivals - on a free. They showed a highlight reel of his best goals, a moment I thought would jolt the Dortmund fans into a moment of introspective "what the bollocks are we doing?!" - but it didn't. Then they rose in unison to applaud him on a lap of honour before he received a huge bouquet of flowers and a medal. It was mind-bogglingly weird. Swap Lewandowski for Sol Campbell in his last game at WHL having told us all he'd be joining Arsenal on a free. That's how weird it was. Yet the german fans seem to love it. A player being groomed by Bayern is seen as some sort of honour-by-proxy, insofar as the non-Bayern fan can say "well, we're fecked now without our best player, but at least we know we're good at spotting talent". Madness.
Pochettino's been in contact with Lloris repeatedly about moving to PSG, apparently. Might explain why he's looked so distracted recently. Cheers, Poch.
First up, he's a very good goalkeeper...despite his occasional lapse. So he'll be tough to replace. Secondly, he's going to have 12 months left of his contract in the summer, at the age of 34. So, we're going to get nothing like the cost of replacing him with a player anywhere near as good as we need...just like our defenders and midfielders. It's very worrying, given the enormous hole in our finances from not being able to utilise the earning potential from the stadium. Is this (very sparsely run) report the missing piece in the jigsaw... Nearly two years have elapsed since Tottenham Hotspur opened their new stadium in April 2019. In that time, the club has yet to find a corporate sponsor willing to pay chairman Daniel Levy’s asking price for naming rights. Now, Matt Law writes in the Telegraph that Spurs have executed yet another shake-up at the very top of the club hierarchy in order to facilitate that deal. The club has brought in former NFL executive Todd Kline, most recently with the Miami Dolphins, as its new Chief Commercial Officer, with his primary role being to secure the naming rights for what is now called the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This move constitutes a major delegation of responsibility for Daniel Levy, who up to this point had been working on securing the naming rights deal personally. According to Law, Levy was hoping for a deal worth £25m/year for 15 years, which would make it the biggest stadium naming rights deal in the world. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the financial hit taken by Premier League clubs have made that difficult over the past year. Kline has been brought in with experience specific to this area of negotiation. Most recently, Levy has held discussions with a major utilities provider but he has been unable to agree a deal and finding a suitable sponsor will now be part of Kline’s remit. Kline has experience in the field after helping to land the 18-year naming rights deal for the Miami Dolphins Stadium with entertainment venue Hard Rock, which was worth a reported £180m. With a hefty 'up front' element to a sponsorship deal, there might be hope. Without it....well, it ain't going to please many people.
Donnarumma and Rui Silva from Granada on free transfers. I'm sure Raiola won't **** the first option and the second won't sign for Wolves, just because he's Portuguese.
Apparently we’re keeping tabs on Ezri Konsa at Villa. Said to be a Spurs fan too. So who out of Toby, Dier or Sanchez can we offer in return and make Villa feel like they’re getting a good deal? Donnarumma on a free would be one of the deals of decade but there’s a lot of talk that he’ll sign a new deal at Milan, unfortunately.
I think he'll either stay or go to one of the big money clubs, though I'm not sure who would be after a keeper this summer.
-Juventus, as a long-term replacement for Buffon (and I'm sure that move will go down well...) -PSG, as a long-term replacement for Navas (who would just so happen to let them game Ligue 1's FFP requirements) -Los Ladrones, because Courtois hasn't enamoured himself - and not for the usual reasons, namely not being genetically spliced from the DNA of Casillas, Chilavert and Yashin, instead because he's been dropping so many howlers their fans are wondering if they signed Kepa by mistake
Paris and Juve would seem the likeliest big club moves I’d imagine but as has been said the latter wouldn’t go down too well. I’d love to think the club is looking at him but equally I’d be very surprised if he was interested in a move here. Stranger things have happened though, I was shocked at the time we signed Lloris.
Turk Watch/Goalkeeper Watch Our good friends at...some Turkish paper which I won't dare trying to type claim that we're after Fenerbahce's 22-year old keeper Altay Bayindir, who is supposedly also on Ajax's radar I wager Diego's Not606 login credentials that Bayindir will be at neither Spurs nor Ajax when the summer transfer window shuts
