We would be top imo. We'd have been further ahead at Christmas without the injuries. But that's exactly what it is, an opinion. End of the day, it's all "ifs", "buts" & "maybes". We've experienced the injuries and we don't have the squad to cope and therefore we've been ****. That's nothing new, we knew that was a possibility last season too.
Good point this, weve continually rode our luck. It's come to an end and we must suffer the consequences.
The reality is we were good for 30 mins, adequate over next 40mins and disastrous over final 20. Really bright showing for 30mins with proper pressing and showing intent. (Now the front 3 and mane expecially looked tentative) We imo dropped off after 30mins and were still better than Leicester for the next period of game but rarely threatened goal as we either lacking ruthlessness and not getting in box. We did it once and scored. Once. There were warning signs at the back time and again but we were doing OK. Last 20. Nobody wanted to make tackles. 1-0 up but leicester could run at us with impunity and frankly the then imploded. Again sub from klopp puts on a guy who should be sprinting about pressing with front 3 with the others holding but we actually are treated to nothing but wide open midfield and 3 goals conceded as the team fall apart. The warning signs were there 4 or 5 times prior to alission fluffing his clearance having reached that ball over the top. The warning signs were there with barnes jumping into people to win frees. We kept backing off him. We are just not dealing with these things. 1-3 is a disaster as it should be 1-0 there. Its again self inflicted
so what you’re saying is those players haven’t been missing since Christmas? Got it, we’ve just been resting them all and not playing them
Zanj said you’d still be top of the table if not for injuries since Christmas, I called bollocks. I also stated you’ve been on the slide for around 12 months, the facts bear that out. You’re no longer the holders of 2 of those pots btw, and won’t be the holder of the 3rd one come May. As for the shadow, it’s not casting much shade in the present is it? Given we’re now only 3 points behind you with 3 games in hand. Who’d have thunk it....
how about you make it obvious for me because I’m obviously not intelligent enough to work out what you’re saying...
I've consistently said we were lucky with injuries last season; we've never (under Klopp) really had back up for any position bar CM (currently struggling because it's covering CB). We've all been saying for years that we need options up top and for both FBs. That luck ran out this year but I'd have taken the tough in exchange for our last three seasons
@Tobes The bit about Christmas was a point of reference, it's clearly separate to the statement with it being in brackets. I never said our decline started at that point, clearly it didn't. But with all the **** we're going through, it's nice to know the only thing you've got as an argument is a misunderstanding of my post
For once I actually agree with you. Said before the match, the owners are here for the money football can offer, we're an investment. Its why they are obessed with the idea that the club should be 'self-sufficent', so that they don't have to spend their own money. Citeh have proved that FFP doesn't matter so this philosophy is now a waste of time. Owners have two options this summer double down and invest in the club or admit they don't have the capcity to compete with the Oil countries and Oligarchs (which would lead to a sale)
yeah but that doesn’t fit his point that since Christmas we’ve apparently had no new injuries so should be able to cope perfectly fine, because mental and physical fatigue isn’t a thing, especially when you have to play a lot of the same players week in week out because you have injuries so can’t rotate, because of said injuries. Players should be able to continue to play constantly out of position and be perfectly fine.
Amusing that with all the **** we're experiencing, the only thing he can attempt to beat us with is his misunderstanding of one of my posts
12 months is a slight exaggeration but not by much. The progression between untouchable to top of the table to absolute disaster has been happening over 4/5 months imo.
Nah bar the odd performance we have been very poor since the return after first lockdown no point in getting involved in any debates right now cause all none LFC fans having waaaay too much fun Enjoy it We have had our fun for past two seasons Atm we are still in CL (give it a few weeks) hopefully we can regroup over summer and come back a bit stronger than this bad year in the office
no "normal" owners can compete financially with a country and i fail to see why that reality leads to a sale .
Depends if they want to win stuff or not. If they're just here for the money we'll end up selling off to re-invest and end up in the same situation, lacking depth. FSG are profit driven, if profits aren't there whats in it for them? They don't have a historic connection to us (unlike the Red Sox)
You were top Christmas Day with the injuries......so how is that merely a point of reference? What’s happened is, that the wheels have fallen off mate. You lost the last 2 games largely because of Alisson. You lost games 1-0 at home to Brighton and Burnley as your forwards were missing chances and you couldn’t break sides down. Thiago has been absolutely ****ing awful. Your club waited until the absolute death of the window to bring in CB cover as opposed to doing so the minute the window opened, etc etc. That side peaked back end of 2019 imo, and it’s been visibly in decline since late Feb 2020. The 3 forwards all hit 29/30 this year, Van Dijk will be 30 by the time he returns, you’ve still got no cover for either full back it seems, despite bringing in a LB last summer. Milner is surely finished, Henderson hits 31 this summer.....all good things come to an end. Oh well.
