I'm not sure why a big fuss was made over this yesterday. He had made it clear sometime ago on live tv, during an update. It's not his fault journo's don't keep up with the updates, and try and make spin.

He was asked about his holiday plans, he said he had intentions of going, IF circumstances allow, the same applies to everyone. Yet it clearly gave you plenty to cry about.

Tbh tourists will be welcome to Cornwall this summer. The economy needs them to survive down here. There are so many small businesses that have gone to the wall already, so we really need the income that visitors bring.

We managed it relatively well last summer, most people observed the rules, stuck to their bubbles and covid rates didn't soar.

It was the relaxing of the rules at Christmas that did it.

You are crying, that's why you mentioned it. It's the only reason you mention anything is to have a cry, either on here or on GC. It's quite sad to watch, your daily tears, there 's been no end to them mate.

Like you, the media were all over Hancock and the big revelation of him going to Cornwall, funny how I already knew about it. Just shows the muppets weren't paying attention. It's let's hate Tories at any and all costs.

I agree we should have never relaxed the rules. However, I also hasten to add, we are ALL responsible for our own well-being. Foolish yes, but people have to learn to take some accountability of their own actions. The reasons why, you, me and Archers are not in hospital. We can't be accountable for idiots.

Nope, just checked, definitely not me that's crying. I'm feeling quite chipper actually, amazing what an FA Cup win will do for morale.

As for Matt Hancock, he doesn't need me to make him look a total plank; certainly not when he has colleagues like that utter ****ing plum Grant Schapps to do the job.

The Govt made a rod for their own back over Christmas, promising people that they could meet up and then having to back track at the last minute. By that time, the horse had well and truly bolted. But, yes it comes down to individual responsibility in the end and no Govt can legislate for that ultimately.

I don't believe in a nanny state, I can think for myself. However, lots of people need the nanny state to lead their lives - so yes the government fooked up. But I still stand by my own argument, that there is a reason I'm not in hospital. I really don't want one of those tubes shoved down my neck. I've set my own family rules, and it is what it is. People can make their own choices just the same as well. I'm not saying people/family shouldn't meet, you adapt to what you think is right for your circumstances, and any aspects that you consider as adaquate measures. Constantly blaming the government for everything is a cop out. Let kids go to school, don't let kids go to school, whatever side of the fence you fall, someone will say the opposite, tbph, I'm tired of hearing the same debates over and over again, people just want to play politics, rather than everyone coming together and agreeing what is the right course of action. Blaming Boris, moves the responsibility from everyone else is how I see it - Labour are no better in my eyes.

Welcome back and thanks for this, mate. I’ll be sure to read it if I ever end up in solitary confinement and it’s stuck to my wall and my eyelids are sellotaped open.

Fair enough, and I like a good cup run.

As for Hancock, I couldn't give a shhite about him, but the spin the journos put on Cornwall yesterday, I just found astounding. He openly spoke about it a while back, clearly those doing the spinning have very short memories.

So where are we at with holidays. NO ONE can know....even if our government lift restrictions, does not mean other European countries will. Just because the whole of the UK might be vaccinated, does not guarantee we will not transmit it, and until the rest of Europe catches up, I don't see how we can indicate when people can go on holiday.

Ok, what about UK holidays, book it, only if you know you can get your money back or are happy to take the loss. I don't want the government making promises they have to back track on, we saw enough of that at Christmas, and the problems it's now caused. I take Priti Patels stance, we are in the middle of a pandemic!

There has to be a balance in all of it. Govt need to issue edicts in order for people to understand the rules, and people need to take individual responsibility for their actions. imo Boris has been too slow with a lot of the measures, only reacting when things got out of control. He's also been inconsistent, telling people one thing and then backtracking a week later. That hasn't helped, because it weakens the message and people end up ****ing it all off and doing what they want.

That said, ultimately it comes down to individual responsibility. And like you say, there are nuances in that about how we all manage our lives, our families and keep each other safe. It's never going to be a perfect scenario, because it's a constantly changing picture and people make decisions, mistakes, and do things that they might do differently the next time. Whilst others appear to have no regard for their consequences and will just carry on regardless.

The figures don't show much of a jump after Christmas just a continuation of the existing trajectory .
It wasn't Christmas to blame so much as winter and the new variant . Though still struggle to believe the knots the Govt managed to get itself into as they were jumping between being optimistic and realism .

I do stop and wonder sometimes, how on earth did you even catch it?

A lot of the time is it absolutely the person who caught it's own fault, as they just can't have been flowing the basics or 'the rules'.

This is based on the fact I've worked throughout etc. etc. (this is not the exclusive of Comm, loads of us have worked none stop believe it or not). I have three children who've been at school when allowed so, them being carriers and all, they must surely bring it home at some point, right? A wife who teaches, ditto.
Have coached junior football teams when allowed.

Honestly, what the **** have people been doing? A large portion of the population just has to have been ignoring it all.

Easiest thing in the world to just sit back, shrug your shoulders, and blame the government for everything, people should be/should have been taking responsibility for themselves.
