Fair play to Dychey and Mariappa with their latest interviews on the official website with both following the right direction and staying positive. But one cannot help but feel worried as to how much time we actually have. I fully support learning from mistakes and improving over time but unfortunately I get the impression that our club lacks the space for this trial and error and will eventually end in the sacking of a potentially good manager. Don't get me wrong i feel that Dyche has potential but in my opinion its unfortunate that his opportunity has come at a time of real pressure and change. Basically what im trying to ask is.... Does Dyche have the time and patience to turn us into a solid championship side? I hope he does but you cannot help but think our financial and league position will put his job security under pressure... open to thoughts.
Our financial position means that Dyche should be safe. We would not want to pay him compensation to leave; we would not be able to afford to pay another club compensation for their manager and we could not pay high wages to attract a "better" man. Plus a change of manager almost certainly would demand player investment. None of that will happen. Don't give up on Dyche yet - MM's last 13 games yielded only 9 points so he did not take over a winning side.
Quite so - and MM's side had the much vaunted Graham/Cowie/Buckley combination, the loss of which everyone is bemoaning. We all knew it would be hard - he knew it would be hard, but I do think that Forsyth, Garner and Hogg will prove their worth sooner rather than later.
Couldn't agree more BB, people seem to have these rose tinted specs when it comes to MM and his time at Watford - they seem to forget the bad spells. We have had to bring in a group of new payers, many of whom have never played at this level and are coming up against players who have just come out of The Prem....a little patience is needed!
I think the question is when does Baz get nervous , its his investment , his baby , if he wants to bin a manager its his call , hopefully he will continue to listen to GT!
For as long as we are outside of the bottom three, there is time. Not that 21st place or just above would be a success, but avoiding relegation is always the minimum expectation, and we are currently on course to achieve that. Unless that changes drastically, we should save discussions about the manager until the end of the season.
NNW we are currently 2 points off bottom three , could easily be there after next set of fixtures , does that then alter the mindset (probably not) but it does increase the pressure on the owner to act!
If we were bottom of the table and well adrift of the others when Christmas comes round maybe something would change, otherwise I see no likelyhood of the manager being replaced. GT seems to have the owners ear, and he believes that managers should be given three years to prove themselves. Seeing as GT still seems to have his marbles about him, I will go along with him as in my opinion instant success is something that very few managers achieve.
From good old Fluffles (Ken Furphy to the under 50s) in the early 70s as I recall. Unfortunately a year or so after that quote he resigned (moved to Blackburn Rovers) and we plummeted out of the old Div. 2 into Div. 3 and then a couple of years after that into Div. 4. So perhaps we had better not be quoting anything horticultural.......
"So perhaps we had better not be quoting anything horticultural....... " Just give them an autumn feed with some blood and bone meal in it and they will be fine.
I'm pretty sure that Baz would kept a contingency aside for if Dyche doesn't make the grade. I would imagine that our manager has until Christmas to impress, if not, a new manager will be in and the transfer window will be open
Bringing in a manager without giving him a pre-season is the telltale action of a desperate owner. What we've seen so far isn't good enough, but for a club with our spending power only a regular slot in the bottom three would justify desperation. If Dyche looks likely to keep us up but doesn't appear to be the way forward, we should let him keep us up but not let him take us forward.
Doncaster have 7 out of 9 points since they switched gaffers!( I think havent checked but the arent bottom any more) might have something to do with players increasing effort to keep their contracts under a new boss!
That's understandable when someone has been in his job three, four, five years and the team is seriously underperforming. Dyche has been in the job three and a half months, and we're one result away from being on course to match or better anything that we've done in the last three and a half years.
No doubt, but Dyche has built a squad that I can't see burning out by February. At worst I can see the team carrying on as they are for the rest of the season. And if they do significantly improve, Sean will have proven himself to be at least a half-decent manager.
