that's the one I'm referring to. It says "as EFL complete their final checks". They're saying EFL are currently in the process of completing their final checks. Not that they have completed them.
How would it be edging closer if the checks still aren't completed? Why would KLD be in town? They're done.
Sky's own north east reporter posted a story a few hours ago saying its "edging closer" because KLD was at the game last night, and that the final checks are still with the EFL. That news story on SSN was just them summarizing that. It's not new info.
Tell me why KLD would be in town if checks are still being made? EFL have done their bit. It's out of their hands now. KLD probably has the keys in his pocket & getting the sign on his parking space made right now.
I completely agree with you - I'm just saying that Sky Sports aren't reporting that the checks are complete.
I've got complete faith in KLD and his family getting this right. They've been there, seen it, done it and bought the commemorative plates. It may not be this season, as they've got a lot of ****e to clear out of the way before they can build a winning team. Let's face it, there's not much to beat in this league, so a 10-15% improvement is all we would need for next season. While I have every faith in the new owner and his family, the jury is still firmly out on the new manager, who comes across as a bit of a Cockney Spiv, who can talk for England and sell you owt, but has yet to do anything convincing for me to believe he is capable of walking the walk. I'll give him until October/November to convince me though.

This process has been torturous for us all and we're still in League One. The squad is no better than when we arrived, possibly worse and there's a lot of work to be done. But, despite the state we're in, we all need to take a reality check, in my opinion. We're being taken over by a man/family with many many times the wealth of Donald, a history in football and a lifetime of working with top advisors. I think the last two years have desensitised us and made us cynical but there's absolutely no comparison with the old and the new. But, for a club in our position, this is an amazing opportunity and I'm not about to let the 'legacy' of Donald and Methven spoil it for me. These people won't have gone through all of this to pussyfoot around and drift around this league so I'm not about to drag my heels and wait for things to happen before I get excited. We have an owner that PL clubs would be lucky to have and I'm looking forward with real excitement for the first time in years.
