Then again when the goal went in neither Harrison or Klich celebrated the goal. As the camera cuts away to follow Bamford , you can see Raphinha trotting across the 6 yard box to congratulate Bamford. I can't remember from the actual game, the celebrations, but most of the highlights actually cut away and at best show Ayling celebrating with Paddy. However at 3:21 in the video below, you can see Paddy, Cooper, Harrison, Ayling, Klich and Raphinha, all grouped together, with Copper congratulating Raphinha, so given that Raphinha also provided the assist for the goal Paddy scored against Leicester, then I don't see any issue. Not sure why the person posting the video uses a picture of Rodrigo, playing for Valencia as their thumbnail, given he wasn't involved
Bielsa on Gelhardt: After the match, Marcelo Bielsa said that Gelhardt has been one of the best players in the Under-23s set-up and that he’d been recommended for the step-up by their manager Mark Jackson. He also confirmed that he would be looking to play Gelhardt in either the striker or no.10 position and that the absence of Pablo Hernandez had helped give the youngster his shot. Talking in his post-match press conference, Bielsa said, “Prior to the game yesterday, Gelhardt had been one of the better players in the under-23s. “And given the absence of Pablo, we thought that Tyler Roberts could play as a number ten or as a striker and the same for Gelhardt. ‘We follow every under-23s game closely, we constantly ask for advice from their manager and he suggested that we bring in Gelhardt. We thought that it was a correct recommendation.
If there was any unrest, Bielsa would have the culprit(s) out of the club, faster than I can type this message
After the victory last night my mind turned to one thing. Liverpool followed Scumchester at home on consecutive Saturday's in April...let's get everybody fit and give those two the runaround
Nah, put the kids out against City...just to make sure neither of the other 2 get anywhere near the title.
When was the last time a Leeds player - far less a young CB - got himself into positions where he could have scored a hat-trick? All headers? Last defender I can remember scoring a hat-trick was Ian Harte scoring with 4 headers in a pre-season friendly. And yet Struijk is criticised for doing exactly that. Same as Bamford was last year, in effect.
You’re absolutely right, this is a fine balancing act. A lot of promoted clubs bring in a lot of new players that creates a bit of a rift with the ones that got them up and end up going straight back down. Us this season like sheff u kept the team spirit and brought in just a few additions, which till now, seems to be working. But you don’t continue to add sufficient quality then as the blunts are finding out now spirit can only take you so far in your 2nd season once you’ve been found out.
Forgive me if my old memory is playing tricks on me but wasn’t it Raphina’s perfectly weighted pass to Paddy for his goal at Leicester?
Apparently Phillips has announced on social media that he's preparing for Sunday's game, giving the impression that this injury is not serious.
That's sporting of you I must say what about the British sense of fair play old bean, just put Coco in against citeh mission accomplished
And Paddy said last night in the first training session the players saw Raphinha they knew he had that something extra. Not the words of a guy that has fallen out with someone. For me, nothing to see here.
****! Looks like the best LB in the PL is back from injury. https://the4thofficial.net/2021/02/arsenals-tierney-could-be-back-from-injury-versus-leeds-united/
I'm less impressed by (or afeared of) him. Not as consistent as Tierney. What an engine that guy has. Brilliant crosser & capable of scoring too.
Anyone remember me banging on about how Leeds were chasing Esequile Ponce Spartak Moscow talisman Ezequiel Ponce has admitted he rejected a move to England after being linked with Leeds United, speaking to Journalist and asked If he could turn the clock back, would this 23-year-old Argentine make the same decision again? Elland Road was a very different place when Leeds Victor Orta spoke to Ponce, Marcelo Bielsa was just a few months into the job and, while there was no shortage of cautious optimism in West Yorkshire, few would have dared to dream Leeds would be sitting pretty in the top half of the Premier League table two-and-a-half years later. Ponce, meanwhile, has spent the past few seasons looking to rebuild his reputation after disappointing spells at Roma, Granada and a Lille side then coached by a certain bespectacled, bucket-perching tactician. And, after scoring nine times in 19 games for Spartak Moscow this season, Ponce hasn’t lost hope of proving himself in a major European league. “Would I like to go back to Italy? Why not? It would be interesting to test myself again considering that, since I was at Roma, I have grown as a player and gained experience,” says Ponce, who joined Spartak for about £7m “There was interest from England and Italy. But I refused, because I thought that now was not the time.” Walter Sabatini was key to a deal that saw Ponce join Roma from Newell’s Old Boys in 2015 and came calling again when taking on a new role at Serie A rivals Bologna. “The same sporting director who once invited me to Roma worked there – Walter Sabatini,” Ponce adds. “To persuade me to move to Italy, he flew to my home in Argentina. I still remember how the three of us had dinner – me, dad and Walter, who told me why I needed to choose Roma. From Rosario the same place as Bielsa and Messi and playing fir Bielsas old club Newells Old Boys. Bielsa signed him on loan for Lille and he started his real career from there on. Would I go to Leeds now?
