I agree and most forums have a modicum of rules; threads which are not self seeking or attention seeking (and now the annoying constant apologising), threads which are unrelated to the club posted on the general board, not insulting other teams etc. It's not difficult to ban a poster who continually flouts or transgresses the basic rules. Unfortunately the moderation on here is weak whereas boards like intothevalley, CL are not but I prefer not to post there. I think if there are rules they should be stuck to for everyone otherwise why bother having them in the first place then people can choose to leave and find an alternative.
I would imagine that many are put off by the thought of their topics being hijacked by Ackworth-related nonsense - I know I am. I didn't post much on the old 606 board due to A2C and his type of ilk, and I can see the same happening here. Dozens have already stated their discontent at silly posts and non-related material polluting our board, and I have started noticing a lot of 'familiar faces' disappearing. I don't mind some silliness as we're all here to have fun and discuss Charlton, but when it becomes unrelated, uninteresting drivel from one particular individual then I think we should expect a dip in the quality of debate.
But doesn't the blocking work? I'm saddened if some members have left due to JA, but I still don't comprehend people not being able to ignore him. There are some debates about tranmere and green going on, but people are still focusing their attention on these threads. The way to get the forum back would surely to get involved with the football talk?
They are but then the board gets cluttered with inane innuendo and irritating threads which are either not relevant to the team or self seeking satisfaction through apologising. Effective moderation would remove the threads/posts and the poster concerned but that isn't happening. Funny that other forums can do it like CL and Into but not this one
Its the first I have heard about all of this and it is a sad day when one poster chases everyone away. You may be surprised to know that just about every board has a JA, a pain in the arse but what to do. I can ban JA with the click of a mouse, easy but it gives a potential problem, what do I do if I get a PM from a few posters about, crack addick, just picked his name because its the first after the mod and it says we dont like him, either he is banned or we leave? I ban for the normal things but not for being a odd ball, thats what the ignore button is for. Surely if everyone carries on, posting good threads and ignoring JA he will go away. If people dont ignore him then maybe he is not a pain in the arse to all. JA wont kill this board but the rest of you may.
i will promise to be sensible on here, their no need not to post i will stick to my limit of threads and im trying cut down in week im just passionate about cafc which i apologise for
Why bother with rules on a forum then if you're not going to enforce them. Surely as this poster has already been removed twice for over exceeding the thread allowance and then for personal insults, incidentally these carry on against other team, then that in itself is enough to warrant a dismissal. Plus the fact that most posters are unhappy with the board being cluttered with irrelevant threads on a Charlton board which should go elsewhere. No wonder people are voting with their feet and leaving just like I will do - again as before.
I don't understand people saying they will leave because of AckAck, he has been playing by the rules set on here eg only two threads a day etc, and there are plenty of other Charlton forums you can go on if you don't want to read AckAck's posts, the person who I most can't understand is 56 years who says he only signed up on here so he can dig AckAck out, what the hell is the logic there, you have only joined up just so you can say someone is driving you away from something you didn't even belong to, that is mentalist behaviour, no offence but you need to talk to a brain doctor, AckAck is harmless and has contributed more to Charlton with his little finger than some of those digging him out have contributed with their whole hand, more power to you AckAck, and welcome back, you have been missed.
I agree it's obviously the wrong place if you want a sensible discussion or level headed one on Charlton related matters and rule breaking is the name of the game then you're right we're better off elsewhere. Incidentally can you explain why the same poster was removed twice if rules aren't being broken. Presumably inappropriate remarks about Capello let alone threads, posting irrelevant threads to seek attention, constant apologising time after time when other posters are fed up are acceptable are they? Perhaps you should read the remarks from some of the serious posters from yesterday.
Looking in as a neutral on this board, I have to question your motives, although I know you will not agree with me... You last posted on the 30th August, in response to this on the Wall board...http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/81646-Caption-Comp-48?p=1191830#post1191830 So in your next post on this thread you mention, you want sensible debate?????? Yet your next post after that link was not again until yesterday to immediately join in the JA debate. Now this is not a brain teaser to see where I am coming from, so over to you...
Shouldn't this board's affairs be determined by its own moderators/posters other than outsiders.Unless of course you are enforcing rules which is different, after all if one of your posters raised an issue over inappropriate threads etc on your board I would not see it as my place to intervene, moderator or not.
Have I intervened or interferred? NO The boards are open to opinion, I have expressed mine and will go away, I will allow others to judge your response to my comment
Yes that's fine but I would not want to comment on the affairs of your board which are not my concern, volunteer an unwelcome opinion or shout back at you using capitals come to that. I wouldn't bother to keep replying to my posts as I don't like the lack of effective moderating on here anyway, it's one of its main flaws so won't be posting a reply.
What rules say a poster is restricted to a thread allowance? What insults, not one complaint has come my way. How many leaving, I found out by chance. Rather than moan and groan why not simply post threads, seems very easy to me. If you dont like a poster ignore him, whats so hard in that? Some serious dummy spitting going on, its your board so either use it and control it or give it up, jut dont blame me, how many messages have you sent me complaining?
