He will still do his game midweek, then has asked to be withdrawn from the premier league at the weekend.
Some people are just vile. I remember a foreign referee (German I think) hanged himself after getting death threats.
I'm not amused by the sentence under your username. I don't know who's responsible for it but it should be removed. Bang out of order.
Well I don't come on here to amuse you. Soz about that. It's already been changed anyway. Should have checked before you posted.
I agree - these people who continually post offensive usernames and such are bang out of order. No need for it. End of. Maybe @Libby should think about other people and go with "Blame Libby's Morals" or similar
It seems as if the referees' authority has been all but usurped by VAR. At the moment, they seem to be an easy target for the social media louts and thugs, aided and abetted by the press, and some fans. I don't know if they belong to a unión, but they do belong to a professional body. Perhaps they should withdraw their services for a week or two if there is another instant of the media highlighting refereeing mistakes. We all have made mistakes but none that were life-threatening, likewise referees. Let us give them more respect, and perhaps give them a minute's applause when we are allowed to return to our beloved stadia.
Im kind of with you for the "lets not going all death threats". But the rest - absolutely no. Some refs, and this past week or so there have been none more arrogant than Mike Dean. He is responsible for his performance, and he rates his own performance, and media attention, in such a way as to deliberately draw attention to himself. He is in the public eye, and therefore subject to public scrutiny. Public scrutiny includes the public and press. If he was truly impartial, and effective at his job, he wouldnt get the **** he rightly gets from fans moaning and pointing out his incompetence. No on though deserves death threats. Although a few on the Politics thread called the government murderers, which isnt far from it, and potentially libellous, but that is ok, apparently. Anyhow, the sign of the best refs are those that you dont notice during the game. Mike Dean, Lee Mason are not those. Id rather pass on the 1 min applause thanks, and would hope the 1st game he refs of ours, when fans are back in, is non stop 90 mins of Mike Dean is a ****. Or similar, and nothing else. Just constant abuse for the 2 games they ref'd, where they deliberately chose to ref in the way they did - the Che Adams offiside and the Matty Cash handball were the worst of the lot, completely unforgivable and beyond repair.
As wrong as the death threats are, Mike Dean and his appalling recent decisions should still be subject to some sort of performance review/action. The threats can be condemned at the same time as wanting action against horrific refereeing (Lee Mason included).
But Billie, Dean's errors were not life-threatening, so I don't think it warrants a torrent of vitriol!! He now recognises that he needs time out and good luck to him. I hope he comes back a better referee!!! After all, we all learn from our mistakes?
Im not sayign they were life threatening, and I said i dont agree with the death threats. but i do stand by my other points. And I actually hope he doesnt come back to ref another game.
He's only a referee, not a goodam useless Prime Minister, who seems to spend all day smiling on his fat backside. Let's give Johnson stick, instead of referees, inside our stadia through satire and caricature.
