I said "as well as he did" saying he couldnt do anything about it. But no pressure on you = you look alot better. Vettel knows this.
Thats true he would have come out alongside Webber if not in front of him if his wheel hadn't have fell off
Alonso believes Button is the best in wet conditions. http://www.thef1times.com/news/display/04219 He mentions that those conditions are his strong point, but in a way you could infer that Alonso believes Button isn't that good in the dry. It might be genuine praise, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was mind games, especially coming from Alonso.
Nah I think he is just stating a fact, what I dont understand is why Lewis doesnt say to the team "ok guy if its changeable conditions put me on the exact same strategy as Jenson and box me when he does (depending where they are on track)" simply because he always gets the strategy right in these situations. As showed in China 10, Australia 10, Canada 11 and Hungary 11. Korea 10 being one of the rare times JB got it wrong.
Korea 10 he didn't get it wrong he just was not quick enough. He said something about a brake material or something that he chose that was the wrong decision, but I don't know whether that is true or not.
Oh yeah he did box very early and if I remember it was because his tyres were shot to pieces due excessive locking up (which like you said was down to the brake material).
Whoa high praise indeed from Alonso you don't see that everyday, and I don't think he was inferring anything.
Question; Can Button win in the dry? Answer; Does a bear **** in the woods. Answer; Is the pope catholic. Answer; Can fish swim. I could go on forever.
I think it comes down to the fact that the leading teams often split the strategies in those circumstances to cover all options! If you look at Australia 10, it was such a boarder line decession (he almost dropped in the first corner out of the pits) and I just think JB is prepared to gamble slightly earlier where LH tends to hang onto to his dry/inter strategy as long as possible because its his outright strength - that and the fact it is reported that he relys on the team for those type of calls! Luck or not, JB gets it right most of the time amd fair play to him! Oh and the fact that JB struggles with the inters and has a shorter strategy window (time wise) probably pushes him to make the jump to slicks 1 or 2 laps earlier than the likes of LH, SV, FA etc who seem to be able to keep the temp in the tyres much better! I also think he doesnt gamble as much in the early stages of races and so doesnt risk his race and hence has a greater % chance of making the right call!
I was watching JB's interview and he said something about not winning from the front for a while and it reminded me of this.
He should've won more dry races this year to be honest. Monaco, Spa and Singapore all escaped him. He had the pace to do it but not the luck. Nevertheless very impressive from JB
So finally JB has won a dry race in a car that hasn't been the dominant machine (my doubts were wrong!). I honestly believe he is the most improved driver this year- the way he's dominated Hamilton. Now, he needs to make sure he does it on a regular basis. By the way, I feel the key to this victory was a decent grid slot- that must be a main focus for him.
