luckily my snap was lovely plus the cheapo bottle i took a chance was really nice so after some beer and into my second bottle of red wine can i just say Oh ffs Jurgen play some CB's oh and tell the midfield pass & move - preferably quickly and accurately .
Tbf we had goal scoring and creative defenders we just are not able to play them in that way due to circumstances the only real worry I have is that we were rotating (mainly through injury) 3 cbs through one position we had this issue last season when vvd got injured in December - because as good as Matip and Gomes are they are both very susceptible to injuries- I would also worry what shape vvd will return in - I am certain he will have lost some speed In short we may need to rebuild some of the back and allow for lots of injuries there
I just ate my Laal Mass... that I cooked before game... luckily it took 7 beers pre game to cook...now on to a nice white so if I stay conscious I'll have second helpings before the Superbowl... and tomorrow off... wet wipes at the ready!
Just back from the longest ****ing walk in the pissing down rain and flooded fields with one delighted dog. But really, top four? Theres three levels now - City, then United - feel sick - then the rest of us down to ninth place fighting for two places, as I see it, and on current form at least three teams are better than us atm of the seven left. Indeed, without layering on the gloom and doom, I think we'll struggle for a UEFA spot. And please no, before anyone says it, we won't be winning the CL again as in 2005, for the simple reason that City are in it, let alone getting past Leipzig. Be interesting to see who we had planned to come in in the summer, so much so that we couldn't spend in January even in an emergency, and when we did it was too late: I wonder if they'll still come now? But tell me, did we get the usual ****e about players being tired, and about Virgil being injured? Was there anything about taking off your best midfielder and replacing him with Milner and leaving Bobby on the pitch? I wont be watching MoTD to find out.
Same as you lol Totally agree with you though think we need to calm down and trust our team tbh This always had to happen We have been amazing for 3 seasons - the level we have been playing at has been phenomenal let’s just chill and see what happens
you will wake up at 4.30 with an upturned bowl on your crotch or at least you hope that what the stain is
Obviously i cannot speak for others but i very rarely bother listening to the post match guff and deffo wasn't going to today .
Everyone who has had Virgils injury has come back slower and with less mobility. I said at the time I wished hed have broken his leg, because usually theres no loss of speed after that. And, when he comes back, there'll be several niggly muscle and tendon injuries, as he'll be running in a different way as he has been for his life so far, as he subconsciously tries to adjust to a different knee. And Joe will be the same.
Klopp said Allison kicked the ball to City players twice (and ducked under a shot straight at him) because his feet might have been cold. Shame he didn't have more to do eh
Didn't watch post match, but there was alot of talk at the half and during about how slow the midfield was, too many passes etc. And then When Alisson ****ed up it was more about how good City were (which they were) and less about how **** we were. Firmino got off pretty lightly, considering he was anonymous for the whole game, actually forgot he played after the games was done. Same for Gini. In fact Alisson did a huge favour for the team, as he will take the blame when really the rest of them were so poor. For me Thiago is a bit of a mystery, there is no doubt of his quality, but he just doesn't seem to fit. Now that could be he still needs to settle and learn the ropes, or that he's come back into a team lacking any confidence, flow and key players, or he just isn't right for the team. The Summer could be a worry, its clear the teams needs something extra, there is only a certain amount of time you can rely on the same players and tactic and not expect the other clubs to work out a way to stop it. The rotation options are non-existent and the players coming off the bench aren't good enough to be rotation options and frankly they aren't good enough to be bench options really. Plans will have to be changed if we don't have CL to offer, which some targets will demand, and I can't see us changing our wage offerings to do what Chelsea do when they have no CL. Unfortunately I don't think we're the best at changing plans, the owners are at times slow to react and our transfer policy seems to demand extensive scouting and anaylsis.
Henderson has been at the club 10 years and has scored 27 goals Wijnaldum has been at the club 5 years and scored 16 goals Fabinho only 3 so far Thiago scored 17 in 7 years at Bayern. These are our 4 main midfielders. So in a season we’d be lucky to get 8 goals between them. That’s simply not good enough. Gundogan and Fernandes have that already themselves. if Wijnaldum is going, a goalscoring midfielder is imperative.
