The Corbyn/McDonnell manifesto of re-nationalisations, investment programmes and higher spending on public services, paid for by taxation was very popular in 2017 and very nearly won them the election. If Starmer stands on similar polices he will do well in my opinion. Labour has to be a real alternative to the Tories.

I don't honestly think the country could afford those policies with the government debt racked up during Covid. It's going to take years of clever taxation to get us back to the financial position we were in when Corbyn made the promises, and the country didn't believe he could pay for them then anyway #waspywomen

Labour doesn't understand the working class, so they voted for Johnson, Sunak and Rees-Mogg - the real elite, who couldn't give two ****s about them.

The Brexit factor and the “Corbyn will raid your savings and give it to a Syrian refugee” factor would’ve helped massively. The next re-brand of the Tories is a big one.

Absolutely Strolls.....and good policies they were as well. I do agree, there are many who essentially agree with what you’ve described. Unfortunately, because of the hatchet job carried out on him, Corbyn wasn’t the man to carry it through.
Unfortunately, I feel anyway, Starmers problem is still that he is seen as someone who wanted to overturn the Brexit vote and the MSM will be all over that for years to come.

You’ll probably disagree but I feel that Corbyn would of done far better if he would have stuck to his socialist principles and been on the side of Brexit. Him. It doing so lost a lot of support I think

I agree. I wouldn’t have liked it but he’d have won more seats for sure. He was a brexiteer long before it became the career move of choice for senior Tories.

Labour does understand the working class they just don't give them the priority that they deserve. The Party was founded to represent the working class but now targets affluent metropolitans and the 'Woke' as their key voters, when you don't give a f*ck about your traditional voters because they still have outdated attitudes by 'Woke' standards you've disconnected, everyone can see that except the 'Woke' who just 'cancel' anyone that isn't in their tent...

That’s the thing mate.....it was a dying shame that the Right was able to hijack the Brexit vote when really it should of been the Left who should of been the natural champions of leaving.

The vast majority don't but it's a convenient broad brush to use, again when people who are tolerant are labelled because they don't like being lectured what's good for them they'll go elsewhere. You're giving a perfect example of why Labour are currently a joke...

I think they can offer policies that are seen as ‘woke’ and policies that appeal to white blokes in Scunthorpe named Ian. The former are more headline-grabbing though, so if you pursue those votes you risk always being seen as “anti-white working class” and inevitably then anti-British even if you also go after the latter. The country went absolutely mental over the concept of free broadband ffs.

Can always win over some voters just saying what they want to hear then spending five years doing **** all for them but suggesting that may be viewed as patronising.

Why should being alert to injustice, especially racism, be seen as a negative trait? Unless you support injustice, of course.

Personally I think the word ‘Woke’ tends to be a tad over used by people to label someone they disagree with....a bit like ‘fascist’ has been for many years

The negative part is constantly being lectured to about it. Most people don't give it a second thought, you can see it quite clearly and make up your own mind. It's like the 'taking the knee' and BLM, Sir Les summed it up perfectly after the Coventry match but it's still being used in a judgemental way by the MSM. The average person is far more tuned in to injustice and racism than many give credit for, they just don't see it as the be all and end all...

    Yes, that's right.
Unless we agree with your world view we must be in favour of injustice and racism.
    You're such a bore.
