You forgot 'elite'. Most of the electorate are way too thick to know what's good for them. They need to be saved from themselves by the metropolitan liberal elite such as myself.
Corbyn had his name chanted at Glastonbury and the some of the left wing media assumed this was a sign of his general popularity. Lesson learned - Glastonbury is not a bell-weather for the rest of the electorate. It's mostly wealthy liberals (and/or their teenage kids) in their wellies having a day out of The City to listen to Lily Allen and her mates!
The so-called traditional working class, “lend Boris our vote”, “Get Brexit Done” voters have to vote for someone though. I don’t have a lot of faith in Labour’s ability to demonstrate they can benefit them but if it’s a Sunak or Gove-led Tories then they’re hugely up for grabs IMO. Not that I really know as I’m so metropolitan and liberal.

But that’s the thing......’The Traditional Working Class’ have been pushed away from Labour precisely because they feel that the Party has nothing to offer them anymore and who are more inclined to go with identity politics, globalisation and a free market economy. You’ve got to give the Tories credit as they realised that and have been able to exploit it with their own brand of populism, with cuddly, bumbling Boris......and as you quite rightly say with their ‘Get Brexit Done’ sloganeering.

What can they offer then? I’d honestly like to know what sort of policy they’re missing, as a liberal millennial southerner. It comes across at times like people clutch at reasons to justify not voting Labour rather than actually being able to name something the Tories have done for them to earn their vote. Corbyn gave people that out but I think Starmer ticks a lot of the boxes people would have said Corbyn didn’t for them. It would help if he was from Wigan or Grimsby.
It’s very difficult to give you one specific policy that I would say Labour need to change. For me, it’s more that they (Labour) need to stop looking down on working people and taking their votes for granted....as was proved in the last election. For years Labour counted on people to vote for them ‘cos ‘they weren’t Tory’ and their forefathers had voted for the party for generations. Is Starmer the man to do that ? Possibly....however I’m not convinced just yet. I agree Corbyn was an easy way out for most to not vote Labour, but where must a lot of the blame lie with that ? Along with the media stories there was of course a lot of infighting and backstabbing from the likes of Starmer.....It was akin to civil war at times with people being suspended from the party for any alleged misdemeanour, proven or not. The problem was Labour were seen as unelectable
They didn't help themselves by their condescending attitude to the working class encapsulated when Emily Thornberry aka Lady Nugee tweeted the 'White Van Man' with the English flag. The reality is the 'Metropolitan Elite' such as Thornberry, The Milibands and their ilk are in a world of their own. They know what's good for us whether we like it or not and that's where they are being found out as life in Islington, Primrose Hill and Hampstead is light years away from Batley or Barrow...
No. You said that as you were part of the metropolitan liberal elite, it was your job to save most of the electorate as they were way too thick to know what was good for them.
