Have had a good evening, cracked a cracking red after a busy day sorting our move and watching the footy, disappointed with the result, could/should have done better. On to the next game with a positive attitude helped by a couple of Palm beers with Jagermiester chasers.
I think you’ve missed something here.... those of us born way before the late 80shave the same issues. That’s my point- we’ve never been a club that wins a trophy every two seasons!
Reasons not to be downhearted ... Macca only ****s up occasionally, maybe that’s February’s out the way Danny’s getting closer Hopefully no new injuries from yesterday No red cards ... for us anyway 3-2s a big improvement on 9-0 Reasons to be cheerful ... Good to see so many players returning Two important games v Wolves coming up Minamino looks very useful, great goal Great free kick from Cap’n Prowsey We win or we learn The Ralph!!! Anyone wanting an easy ride Good luck with that
Keep the faith. A few results (well, quite a lot actually) for us, and/or against other teams, could see us shooting up the table, challenging for the top. We would still be last on Match of The Day, though. Still, if we won everything, the debates on this forum would be rather dull. Happy, but rather dull
In fairness, there were a couple of possible cards there we could have picked up. Only maybe two and they were 50/50 yellows. As you say though, you got the points, and defended like you meant it!
A couple of quotes from Ralph. “There is a difference between a team that is good and a team that wants to be good”. “The players were motivated but we were not aggressive or committed enough”. I think he is a little bit frustrated to say the least and he doesn’t have an easy run to turn it around.
One more goal from a direct free kick and Prowsey will be equal with David Beckham and Laurent Robert for the most in a Premier League season. (5) I am hoping he has at least two more in him, before the end of the season to get ahead of them and move closer to Beckham’s overall total of 18. Second highest is just 12, so that has to be in his sights.
Just been out on my bike with my Toon mate. He was expecting to lose 5 or 6-3 when they went down to 10, even more so at 9. He couldn’t believe that we went slower and slower, side to side, even backwards in trying to score. Even when we tried to put the ball into the box, we always found a N’castle player. Last weekend he was expecting to get nothing from their last 2 games. Got 6 points and +3 goals. Not bad for a struggling team.
I said to my boy near the end of the game, as frustrated as we are, we weren’t great, but full credit to Newcastle, they defending excellently throughout the game. We did the same to Liverpool, and were happy. Sometimes, you just have to accept it wasnt going to be out day. I figured the last part above out 30 seconds before HT.
Very surprised motd (or maybe I shouldn’t be?) didn’t talk or even mention Prowsies free kick in the analysis. Absolutely sublime. What an asset to have in your armoury.
