Cannot understand for the life of me why my family we’re going potty about Lupin... watchable but not out-****ing-standing, I’d of sacked the script writer after 1 episode....
Marvel are expected to drop 4 trailers during the SuperBowl Half Time show including trailers for upcoming series: Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and movie, Black Widow.
Completely agree OLM. Brilliant, absorbing first half while it focused on the phenomenal discovery. But the second half it lost its way and degenerated into covering personal relationships. No real explanation of the critical importance of Sutton Hoo in causing a complete revision of our prior understanding of the so-called "Dark Ages" (500-800AD). No showing of the amazing artifacts it revealed such as the incredible helmet. Why? Did the makers really consider them as of secondary importance ????
I woke up ridiculously early again this morning, so watched another two films... The Foreigner (2017) - Pierce Brosnan and Jackie Chan star in a film about a Chinese Takeaway owner in London who seeks revenge after his daughter is killed in an IRA bombing. Though it has the sort of action you expect in a Chan movie, it's actually really well done (directed by Martin Campbell - GodenEye and Casino Royale) and I enjoyed it. The White Tiger (2021) - American made, but set in India with an entirely Indian cast. Can't say much about this one without giving away the story, but it has a similar feel to Slumdog Millionaire, without being anywhere near as good. It's over two hours long and I found myself checking the clock a few times during the last half hour, which probably tells you all you need to know.
This morning's early film was The Vanished (2020) - The story of a couple whose daughter disappears during a camping trip. If you like ridiculous story-lines with terrible acting, this is the one for you. Utter ****e.
Pretty certain Black Widow had a Superbowl ad last year too. Covid really ****ed the movie schedules up.
It did. Crazy that a movie will have Super Bowl trailers at successive events without still being released. Normally, Blockbuster movies tend to leave 3-4 weeks between each other when they release their movies to give their Box Offices a good chance of making good money. Now, 2021-2022 has Blockbuster movies releasing most weekends and some even on the same weekend because of how much everything got pushed back. E.g May 7th - Marvel’s The Black Widow May 21st - Spiral (the Chris Rock SAW spin-off) May 28th - Disney’s Cruella May 28th - Fast and Furious 9 June 4th - The Conjuring 3 June 11th - Peter Rabbit 2 June 18th - Disney’s Luca June 25th - Venom 2 July 2nd - Top Gun Maverick July 9th - The Forever Purge July 9th - Marvel’s Shang Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings July 16th - Cinderella July 16th - Space Jam 2 These movies would have been spread over the second half of 2020 with weeks between them and now they’re all packed inside 3 months.
Not Netflix or a Box Set but looking through the listing a couple of classics on today. Double Indemnity, a classic of the genre, on Sony Classic at 6.45 tonight and at 8.05 on Talking Pictures the Eric Sykes classic The Plank. Most will have seen but always worth seeing again and for any that haven't you are in for a treat.
Started to watch a limited series on Netflix called “ Unbelievable “ it’s about a serial rapist, based on a true story. I’ve just finished episode 5 of 10. In my honest opinion it’s ****ing brilliant. Has one of my favourite actresses in it Toni Collette, highly recommend if you like this sort of program.. From 9pm tonight I’m going to watch the other 5 episodes, Mrs mop is not going to be pleased Might be sleeping downstairs tonight
Just watched 'THE DIG' based on the true story of the discovery of the Anglo Saxon burial site at Sutton Hoo.... a good watch..
