Well not much to talk about this weekend as we seem to be safe and achieved our goal of staying up. There seems to be too much of a gap back to the bottom 3 and even Brighton and Burnley are moving 7 or 8 points clear of them now. Finger crossed though and 3 points against Palace sort of confirms things, because we are then in for a tough 5 matches that could do damage to us unless we manage to take some points from them.

    Anyway this weekend:
    • Rodrigo and Poveda will both be out for at least 2 weeks.
    • Berrardi back in training on Monday and will spend time with the U23s
    • Pavel Cibicki has been suspended for match fixing whilst on loan away from Leeds in Sweden. Nothing to do with Leeds or any Leeds results. Apparently he got a dodgy yellow card?
    • Stories still around Adama Traore being tracked by Bielsa? we know it was Orta who brought him to England, so could be possible?
    • Forshaw confident on being fit enough to play for us this season?
Anyway over to you lot and by the way I hope Elland sorts himself out soon

I genuinely think a fit Forshaw walks in to our first XI.

Whether he gets there or not I don't know. Before his injury he was shaping up to be one of if not the best player in our squad. When he was a Middlesbrough in the PL he was very good for them and there was even talk of an England call up at one point.

Let's hope he can get back to full fitness even if it means he gets to resume his career elswhere. It's not his fault his hip packed in.

I have to agree about his pre injury form and Bielsa said he was the first name on the teamsheet. Lets remember that he was signed by Boro as an attacking midfielder who created and actually scored the odd goal. He did that job at Brentford. At Leeds he was classed as a DM but Bielsa had him in tandem with Klich in front of Phillips and it worked with Pablo on the right. I just worry that hes now getting on and been out for 18 months

Question to those who may know.
It is becoming common practice in industry for a company to take out insurance against an employee not being able to work because of injury/illness and thus the insurance pay the wages
Do Leeds carry any such insurance or do we just take the knock on a players wages when injured

That's a very good question, & similar to what's been on my mind re. Forshaw.

I don't think the 'wages' insurance you're referring to is cost-effective. I remember when I was self-employed, I checked out insurance against me being ill & it was stupid money they wanted. Much easier to build up a kitty & keep it safe.

I suspect almost all footballers will have the 'premature end of career injury' insurance, which we've all heard of before. Thing is, the clubs pay the premiums & get everything when it's called in. The player gets bugger all, I believe, unless he has personal cover.

The thought I've had this week concerns the Forshaw situation. If he breaks down again, will Leeds claim he's prematurely at the end of his career & cash him in, so to speak? How patient does a club have to be?

It was in fact Forshaw I had in mind which prompted the question
Not over happy that we don’t get anything by way of compensation for players injured on international duty either

Not sure where the Forshaw love in is coming from to be honest.

I'm remembering an ok championship player who when deployed as an attacking midfielder couldn't score and when played as a defensive midfielder was positionally weak and lacked the pace to make up for that.

Not the worst player by any means, but thinking he may somehow set the PL alight is surely wishfull thinking...at best he would be a useful squad player.

Nobody is saying he will set the PL alight.

He was a better option than Dallas in the middle. His form before his injury was better than Klichs recent efforts. If he got fit and back to that form he would slot back in and improve our XI at this current time.

Looks like a deal has been struck for tv rights for the rest of this season in France. Canal+ have agreed a reduced price but only for the remainder of this season which leaves another couple of years outstanding. It also means Ligue1 clubs will see a 49% reduction for this season in revenues.

And yet you say he would walk into our starting 11 ?

Just not seeing that at all...he wasn't all that in the championship.

Hopefully you're right as we need all the help we can get, but for me Forshaw is being looked at through rose tinted specs.

Just a quick one on the Harrison option to buy thing Doc.

We're assuming that a) the player wants to come and b) agrees personal terms.

If another club offers him twice the wages then it might not be a done deal.

I'd just like to reiterate that Forshaw would have to return to the same levels he was before his injury. I understand he may never be able to get there after what he has been through.

Looks like he could be back training soon so I suppose it's make or break for him the next few months.

I know Jack Harrison contract was due to expire 2022 but he signed a contract extension with City (51k a week) prior to his loan move back to us. That was to ensure City got a fee for him if our deal fell through for whatever reason.

As far as I understand the loan deal automatically turns in to a permanent deal at the end of this season with a fee already agreed by the clubs. I guess the only thing that could currently stop that would be Harrison refusing to sign.

If another club came and offered 30 million then it's too late as the deal is already done with Leeds.

I suppose he could be tapped up to refuse the move? It's more like the Costa transfer where it just auto completes.....or the Augustin deal which didn't.

Just checked Forshaw's stats and he's played 49 League games for us in 3 years...and scored zero goals.

One more season left on his contract and I'm sure his agent will have made sure he got a pay rise when we were promoted.

Cost £4.5M to sign as well <wah>

Can't see him not signing he gets regular game time, knows the system and looks level headed to realise he's already at a massive club:emoticon-0152-heart and at the price is a sure fire bargain...think someone like Brewster's price and you'd say we played our cards right

Jack Harrison is 2 years and 2 months older than Tyler Roberts.

Maybe that's why Bielsa has patience with Tyler and believes he'll come good in the next 12 months or so.

Also Raphinha is one month younger than Harrison...wow what a talent.

Jack Harrison was asked about his plans for next season, he joked that being on loan for 4 years would be a record and hes not enjoying the joke anymore. He added that he feels a big part of Leeds Utd and he said that his agent is fully aware of what happens in the Summer because he gets paid to sort it. Coaches he respects are Viera who managed him for City in the USA, Pep and Bielsa. Been lucky havent I he said, so Im guessing he knows where he plays next season

Wonder what would have happened if we had done things in the transfer market slightly different:

Our best player for 20 years is given a contract extension, but hardly used, just given minutes. So if we hadnt have bought Rodrigo...........

We have struggled at LB so using Alioski more in the Prem than we did in the Championship. Maybe we should have spent big on a LB instead of another CB in Llorente

We have struggled covering for Kalvin Phillips, so maybe instead a Rodrigo De Paul type who can be as good if not better than Kalvin and also he can play AM too.

Would we have won as many games would we be 11th in the league right now, would we have scored as many goals or conceded as many?
