Dunno if it's correct or not, read an article stating that the wheatsheaf has had it's license revoked due to breaking Covid rules, I actually wonder if there will be any pubs left to open once fans are allowed back in numbers. Wonder where Dave will be able to get his rave on.
I suppose if you have to be in League 1 being there during Covid is the ideal time. Low wage bill compared to Championship and PL. Clubs above must be raking up massive debts relative to this level. If we get up would hope we're in better shape than others.
You are only looking at this from the viewpoint of an ambitious club wanting to get out of this crappy league. If someone wanted to just keep a club going along at this level then it would be seen as a godsent way of limiting expenditure.
That's my second port of call, always have one or two in the Wheatsheaf first, get prepped for the long walk down to Jackson's gentleman's club....lol.
I could understand the efl wanting to know more about the others finances and commitment to the club, if they were also new owners not current ones reducing their commitment.
Headlines on the front of the echo about the hold up.... Referencing McGuire but Nothing new to what has been posted previously.
Not at all, I'm saying this salary cap will discourage investment, reduce gates and make very little difference to the smaller clubs.
I read that as well. The landlord reckoned he gave a couple of lads a few cans for moving a pool table!
So why has it been ok in the Rugby world - with Saracens (I think) getting relegated because of breaching their salary cap? There was no major court battle about the legality of theirs and you'd have thought that a premier professional sports club would have been to court to challenge an illegal salary cap. I don't support the cap, but I don't think it illegal because it doesn't limit what you can pay an individual, just the team overall.
Has anyone stood outside the EFL headquarters bothering the receptionist or wrote to Boris demanding answers from the EFL who haven't passed this yet or do we have more class about us?
I honestly think this is why it's taking so long, and why folk are on tenterhooks. Because they think something like this could happen, a wealthy billionaire comes along and fights the case for scrapping the salary cap. Wouldn't put it past the EFL to find some way of scuppering the deal for their own petty, cowardice reasons.
Fair point. Is it to do with the level the cap is set at in League 1 ? Should have set it at a higher level so that it didn't hamstring the bigger clubs. Affect them, yes. Not hamstring them.
Fair enough mate. If they are insisting on seeing proof that existing shareholders in Companies that are being taken over can support the business for 2 years, then surely they should be checking every other club that has not previously satisfied these conditions, and continue to do so every two years.
It is restricting growth though. We have a much larger turnover than the clubs in this division, and should be able to use the extra income that it generates in any way we think fit. Can you imagine if the Premier League told the big clubs that they can't use their Champions League money to strengthen their squad, because everyone should be equal?
From today, Friday, pre-match press conference. "Just dotting the i's and crossing the t's on the takeover," according to Lee Johnson. That's further on than his previous comments and, hopefully, will calm the supporters going into our match. Personally I'm expecting one of the ITK lads to get the nod by Tuesday that it's all on.
Sadly it's become much more complicated. The fact that it isn't a 100% buyout hasn't helped, nor had Covid but the EFL are the main problem .... ... they know its going through but are over playing their part.
