I assumed it was three myself at first but the Sky guys confirmed it as two max. Such a pointless sending off when you see it again, probably a hero in Montenegro though seeing as it helped them make the play-offs

I agree with the point DJ is making, after a good season with United Rooney didn't turn up at the last World Cup and his absence will give the likes of Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge to have a chance. Ashley Young has come on a lot as a player since joining Man United which will help. There's no doubt Rooney is a good player, but he has never really performed on the international stage so his absence may not be as big as some may think.

Agree with your comments, I also think Ashley Young was superb last night and was my MOTM. He's really come out of his Shell and becoming an amazing player since joining Man U.

Montenegro cheated their way through the entire game last night. Some of the dives they were pulling off were just ridiculous. I often moan about refereeing in England but at least we have diving pretty much sorted, if you do it here you get booked and everyone on telly makes a big fuss (and rightly so) but clearly it is still very rife in other parts of Europe. The Rooney thing was a joke, it was just an dodgy attempt at a tackle from behind, if it was any other player it'd have just been a foul and nothing else but because it's Rooney everyone is looking for some anger or retaliation so they can say it's his temper again. The red tops will have ****ing loved it.

The Montenegran #4 got booked minutes after coming on but didn't stop the cheating there, he kept on just halting England attacks by blatantly dragging someone down but cos he wasn't famous the ref didn't care much he just kept letting him get away with it and it wasn't even like they were bad tackles, it was just plain cheating to stop our counter-attacks. Then there was the Welbeck incident <steam>

I don't think Rooney ever fancies the finals....hence get a red and Mrs R can book the hotels for the holidays...Better off without him, we've got enough talent to win it without Shrek, but of course we won't

To play devils advocate, I seem to remember Rooney was excellent at Euro 2004.

true, when he was young and keen to get the ball and run at people..similar to owen at world cup 98, then for some reason they stop doing it when they hit 20, which is far from an age there legs wont allow it....something else that frustrates me about england.
