I don't think climate change itself is fake news, but I think the lack of proper discussion has resulted in a lot of fake news being associated with it, and the science has been shoved in to the background.

A consequence is that some of the 'remedies' are not really liable to resolve it, or create other issues in the process. It needs a proper scientific, unemotional investigation, which should exclude the types that just make emotional, ideological proclamations, and focus on people that have investigated the facts.

If you want to see how the measures advocated by the protesters is liable to pan out, California only put a few of the measures in place, and look at the state of that.

One irony is, if you are genuinely concerned about the environment, and want to protect life, quite a few of the measures advocated could potentially make things worse.

It's worth pointing out that deaths from natural disasters have fallen by over 95%. Life expectancy and protection from disease are also better now than they've been for just about any time in history.

Various creatures, including whales and tortoises are now no longer under threat, and most of that is due to the availability of the affordable condensed energy provided by fossil fuels. That's not to say we should carry on, but the availability of a viable alternative really does need to be fully investigated. Windfarms and solar power come with their own detriment to the environment, and the current infrastructure is not up to the meeting the additional demand that would be required.

They've also tried to sneak some measures in that make no environmental sense, for example the cut to beef herds, even though the farming industry has had a masterplan accepted that demonstrates they can operate within the requirements of the lobbyists. That is ideological, not scientific.

 

My brother in law drives a Tezla , the batteries are mined from Lithium and the power wasn't generated by unicorns it's dirty electricity probably from Sizewell B nuclear power plant.

If Thunberg and other climate activists really cared they would be asking the CCP to update their dirty coal generated power plants but mysteriously China gets a pass .

They are allowed to have slave labour and literal concentration camps to build fancy new Apple phones too.

 

The same people that advocate the climate measures, are often the same ones that oppose Brexit because of the potential economic harm, but the official costing to the economy of climate measures make even the worst calculations for Brexit look like small change.

It's just another reason why I believe the extremists should be seen for what they are, as they do not add to the solution, preferring to silence the science, and are political rather than environmental.
