Fair play for keeping the faith mate, it'll all be over very soon I'm told. The takeover-deniers can then go back to claiming 'it's just a share shuffle'.
There's some very weird people on the internet.

probably any owner involved in this kind of takeover, i think its obvious the EFL have had their fingers burnt with the Wigan fiasco etc., and are desperate to be seen to be doing things differently. Once they've made their point I'm sure this will all be rubber-stamped and concluded, looks like SAFC are just victims of a change of rules and bad timing. KTF not sure why ive quoted Rhinos Legend there???

  3. Well done mate,we just need a bit of reassurance to cope with this apparent delay.
One question I have,...why do the EFL need to approve anyone other than KLD,the incoming purchaser? Haven't they already satisfied themselves as to the character and means of the others when they bought the club from Ellis?

It's simply a self imposed, arse covering, regulation by the EFL which goes well above their remit.

It may look proactive but it's totally unenforceable and pointless.

This takeover is reminding me a little of the old tv soap Crossroads. can you remember how it rattled along forever seemingly getting nowhere.

Exactly this. They were made to look incompetent after the Wigan fiasco and so now they’re adding extra checks to cover their arses.

What they're asking is actually none of their business.

But they know clubs don't want to fall out with the EFL so don't kick up a big fuss.

The same thing applies to the salary cap which will eventually be challenged and thrown out.

People have joined a competition and the rules have been changed.

A decent solicitor would destroy it under restraint of trade.

Hope you’re right about the salary cap smug. I agree with LJ’s view in that I am not sure if it’s legal. Should be ditched for next season. Can’t wait until the takeover is rubber stamped and we can all look forward to good times ahead!

I can’t believe none of the clubs have challenged the salary cap. I can see it being in the best interests of the perennial league 1 plodders but there must be half a dozen clubs that are feeling hamstrung by it.

The Championship clubs dumped their salary cap last week so this one for L1 &2 will not be far behind.

I think whoever these clubs are should do it together and not individually. Of course the spineless EFL, who can’t make a decision, will say the clubs voted for it. Well that still doesn’t make it right because the result was a foregone conclusion and everyone could tell which way it was going to go. Why wouldn’t 20 of the clubs in there want to be able to pay the same wages, meaning they get similar players as clubs like us, Portsmouth, Ipswich etc.
It was a farce and the fact that it was implemented with immediate effect, just goes to show what type of organisation they are. I don’t recall any other rule change being forced upon clubs immediately. This will have a massive impact on our income. If we are allowed to buy similar players to MK Dons, our support will not want to continue to watch that ****e and dwindle away. It’s unfair, not in the values of the EFL and certainly isn’t sportsmanship. All you have to do is to search the values of the EFL and the first that comes up on their website is :
The EFL delivers against the aspirations of every supporter, club, player and stakeholder to excel within the game. The ambition of our clubs, players and fans is at the heart of the competition, with every game important in the battle for promotion, or to avoid relegation.
This rule goes completely against the first sentence.
The EFL a need to look at that again, look up the words “ambition” and “excel” before the lawyers do.

Good post mate. I think you’re right that all clubs that oppose it should tackle it together and it’s surprising that players and their agents are doing nothing as their earnings are being seriously restricted in many cases.

EFL, bent as a 9 bob note.

The trouble is that, with a salary cap, clubs like Wycombe can kick and cheat their way up and that will happen more and more. You'll eventually have clubs like Portsmouth, Wednesday, Forest, etc, with previously big gates in L1 while Fleetwood, Accrington, Wycombe play in a league they'll never get out of.

That will dilute the crowds of clubs like Wednesday while Accrington's will never increase much.

So you'll end up with fewer supporters and even less money in the game.

EFL are frightened that when KLD takes over one of the first things he will do is get a top team of lawyers on the case of the unfair and illegal salary cap, and rightly so.
As someone on here said the other day, the EFL are not fit for purpose, 'they could not run a bath'.

Sunderland are the perfect example of why the salary cap is idiotic.

At the moment we have an owner who's spent TV money, parachute money and a lender's money. Now it's all gone and the situation is terminal.

So, why would a wealthy investor buy the club if he can't spend his own money on his own business ...

... it will just put people off and leave clubs in the hands of proven failures.

    That's an absolute fact.

KLD has to have this at the top of his agenda otherwise what’s the point of him investing his ‘hard earned’<laugh> in this venture. He’s not coming here to plod along in this **** league that’s for sure. Can’t wait to see how things develop.
