Now the Chavs want Bale AND Moddy!

  1. I read this on the BBC gossip page:-

"Chelsea will attempt to lure Tottenham pair Gareth Bale and Luka Modric in a £60m raid."

    (as reported by Caughtoffside)

Yes, yes, yes, I know! It's nothing more than lazy hack journalism.

But what annoys me is that the idiot who wrote this (and I reckon he must be a Gooner on the wum) genuinely believes that we would:-

    (a) sell Bale for a mere £20 million (£40 million having previously been offered by the Chavs for Moddy alone)
    (b) accept £40 million for Moddy, having previously turned it down
    (c) not only sell our two most influential players, but sell them together
    (d) sell our two best players to the club whose place we are looking to take in the EPL

Who does this idiot think we are? Arsenal?

I wouldn't be too worried. It's on the BBC gossip page and was lifted off caughtoffside.

I don't get why websites like that get reported on the BBC gossip page.
They've got absolutely no credibility whatsoever.
They may as well be reporting the rumours from the Spurs Community ITK pages.

  9. Is Caught Offside an AFC sponsored rag?

I wouldn't be surprised it it was.

I think CaughtOffside is just a random bunch of people speculating.

I do know that and I as much as anyone enjoy a good discussion, but I am really tired of these lazy journos fabricating stories that try to undermine our rise in good fortune.
The fact that we dare try to break into that holy ground of the top four and push one of the chosen ones out again seems to be a red rag to these people.

Yes, Sky in particular dont like any upset to their Sky 4 (although with the emergence of Mansour FC`s millions they`ve now had to turn it into the Sky 5) apple cart.

I know this is from thr Daily Fail but it does have quotes so i don't think Chelsea will be buying many more players at huge prices.

Chelsea are drawing up a blueprint to meet the strict UEFA rules on spending through cutting their dependence on owner Roman Abramovich.
The club reported a £70million loss last year and chairman Bruce Buck admits they face a tough period trying to meet Financial Fair Play rules that could see teams thrown out of the Champions League from 2014.

'Even before [financial fair play] we were of the view we couldn't rely on Mr Abramovich for ever,' said Buck. 'We had to figure out a way over the medium term to stand on our own two feet. Maybe financial fair play is making us do that a little bit quicker.

'An academy costs maybe £5m a year to run, so if you can get maybe one player every year or 18 months into the first team, look at the transfer fees you've saved. The economics are pretty clear. Implementing it is much more difficult.'
Chelsea are also trying to increase sponsorship.

An office has already been opened in Singapore to exploit the Asian market and Buck added: 'We have to up our sponsorship income. We have to reduce our transfer fees, reduce our payroll and up our match-day revenues if we can. Naming rights could also be important.'

  17. There's no doubt that this is a story without any foundation to it whatsoever.

I posted this thread, not because I place any credence in the story (my OP makes that abundantly clear), but as a rant against lazy hack journos who churn out the same old predictable faeces, without engaging their brains even by one cell. It's either that or the writer of the piece is a Gooner or a Chav on the wind up.

I thought Chelsea were going to break even by 2010 and be making big profits by 2015? :/
