Potentially. It's all guesswork based on what little is known. PL arbitration does allow payment of a sum of money, although I am not sure of the limits.
So round and round we go. As I've said before, Saudi has more money than God. It would take about half an hour to establish a separate "Saudi Sports Investments" entity and buy Newcastle. Over time, they could easily sell shares back into PIF and PL wouldn't/couldn't bat an eyelid. But for some inexplicable reason, this doesn't happen.
Meanwhile world boxing fight between AJ and TF is going to be held in SA. Because it’s going to the highest bidder. Hmmmmm
Here's another thing to consider - Qatar objected heavily. PIF walked away. Qatar then signed up a new broadcast deal. I'd imagine the PL can't now just turn around and allow PIF back without a lot of concession somewhere.
A financial settlement wouldn’t have a limit, it’d be between both parties. All that is factually known is that PIF walked away last July, citing the delays in the process of approval combined with the changed and uncertain global economic situation brought about by COVID. Subsequent to that Ashley said he was launching legal action against the PL, in relation to the failed takeover, but didn’t state on what grounds and with what aim. What I don’t and never have understood, is why if PIF / the House of Saud, were intent on buying NUFC why when the issue of separation was first aired (which let’s be right, they’re ****ed on, given the Chair is the actual head of State ffs) they didn’t simply say, OK then, and set up a completely separate entity called it what they wished and installed directors of their choosing. Job done. My personal view on this has never really altered tbh. I think the entire thing was driven by Staveley, who herself stood to gain a 10% equity stake as her fee. I think she took a long, long time to convince someone within the wealth fund to get on board, and since they’ve walked away, has been desperately been trying to revive it, for obvious reasons of self interest. Things can change of course, and it may still be possible for them to return. However, the asset value will have taken a battering since the deal was originally struck, and no one will be more aware of this than Ashley. Given his previous, my bet would be that his legal beef surrounds the devaluation of his asset, for which he’ll likely blame the PL for not rubber stamping the takeover in a timely manner, and he’ll no doubt cite numerous other takeovers that they’ve cleared in days.
It's slowly creeping along its been a battle of delay vs perseverance and patience and the latter will always be victorious
It's not Mike Ashley. It is Newcastle United Football Club that has brought the action. Nick De Marco is representing Newcastle United, not Mike Ashley. Schoolboy error from the chronicle.
In PL arbitration it would. They can award a sum of money, but not to the level that Mike Ashley would seek. He would be after a devaluation value. In terms of the Saudis - I think they may have realised that setting up a sporting company that would purchase NUFC may have been the way to go. There have been rumours that there would be some form of realignment.
It's definitely happening but there's a few people that dismiss all the evidence and continue to provide me with years of vaulting their posts
It's that bloody @Roland Deschain he's essentially the not606 equivalent of Luke Edwards off twitter and it doesn't take much to brainwash good old @Geordieginola into action Then we've got my good mate @Tobes who's been lurking in the shadows for a year.
You know I love this thread mate, you drew me to it when you shot your wad all over the PL board in the other thread with your 600 posts a week at its peak
