Morning everyone. What's got folk nervous about the takeover today? I'm not being lazy, just haven't the time to catch up. Things to do before graft.
Exactly mate, the EFL are overplaying their part and asking for things outside of their remit. They exist to administer the league, not involve themselves with the internal business of private companies.
As the transfer period is over, I guess there is no rush. I had a snippet of news a week or so ago that indicated it was still happening. However there is chat now about the EFL messing about... who knows
Again, this reminds me of the Town takeover. Confidence was so high that the sale of tea towels went through the roof on Tyneside. Only then to find out that the Saudi's pulled out of the deal because the Premier League were supposedly dragging their heels.
I wonder if it's KLD using the EFL to turn the screw a little on SD and Co., he knows they're a bit potless so maybe by asking them to offer up some financial guarantees they could be inclined to bail out altogether and let KLD have the lot. it's just a thought, but I'm sure if it's a bargaining chip he'll be right on the button.
There needs to be a resolution to this sooner rather than later. The EFL must have given the mid January timeline for the club to issue the statement. We are 3 weeks past that now and while I appreciate a running commentary isn’t the best thing to do, an update of some description is required sooner rather than later as to when decisions will be made. By nothing being said opens up the press and others to speculate on potential issues.
Forgive me for any ignorance, but can I ask a simple question? Are FPP still involved in any capacity?
Nowt like FPP at all as that was never ever at the final stages with the EFL checks and the club never issued a statement saying they had agreed a price with FPP but apart from that........
Rumours get out dont they mate. I was up to date last night. just noticed fresh stuff this morning about Donald not wanting to fund this n that.
It's similar but different. Louis-Dreyfus has made a statement to the supporters, appointed staff and paid off Graham. Ashley can afford to stay, Donald can't, especially now we have the likes of Davison, Speakman, etc, to pay.
It’s almost 7 months since Nick Barnes said it was happening, due diligence wasn’t an issue and it should be complete by the start of the season. It’s not like we’re a multi national corporation worth billions of dollars and employing thousands of people in 30 countries and the subject of a hostile takeover. We’re a football club worth £30m employing less than 100 people with 3 owners who all want the deal to happen so what on earth in this comparatively small deal could take 7 months to complete? I’m thinking KLD only came to this in October/November and that there’s been other buyers that were close only for it to fall through and so Juan approaches KLD. Its the only way I can get my head around the length of time this has taken.
I know what you mean. Thinking about it though, an update will get picked apart and raise more questions than it answers.
If it had been a full buyout it wouldn't have taken this time. Donald has tried to negotiate a higher shareholding while cashing in. It would've meant making a profit while keeping enough shares to have a say and enjoy future profits. KLD threatened to walk at the end of November, unless he had total control, whereupon Donald clucked. It now seems to be down to finite bloody details.
I know the in and outs will be totally different and the can has been kicked further down the road but for plebs like me sitting at a computer screen at work for most of the day the pattern is very similar. Hope I dont have to take my beret, blue and white stripey t-shirt and fake onion garland back to the shop, thats all!
Well I am led to believe KLD has or is in the country... and attended a match or two. As to EFL and Donald et al not a clue, or what %s who will have.
So if KLD has been the only interested party then it looks like greedy bollocks has spent the last 7 months manoeuvring himself into the best financial position he can. Now that’s something I can get my head around.
