I think it won a number of awards over the years, but looks like others know more, I was of an ago where I didn't have any interest in that kind of thing nor would I understand it.... All I wanted to do was play on it

Thanks for confirming - I thought John Cooper had won awards for the pitch.

I remember going to the Old Show Ground and the only grass on the pitch was the 4 corner triangles.

It does makes my blood boil. Since the rugby moved to the KC they and their fans expect and think they should always play on a surface that looks like a billiard table. Yet for 100 years they played on the boulevard pitch was worst then a farmers field. It was always thick mud, and very. very uneven. Council park pitches were better kept at the time and Boothferry Park was considered one of the best playing surfaces in the country. Never heard that said about the 'world famous' boulevard.

Fair enough. City was described as having the best pitch out of all 92 clubs during Stan Coombes time. As were Middlesbrough and Ipswich at times.. It seemed to be between those 3.Maybe they didn't give awards for those sort of things in those days.

You just shake your head. He is either a WUM (it bears the hallmarks of one poster on here) or a deluded numbnut who confirms all the perceptions people have about some FC fans.

I must have missed it moving above ping pong in the Sky list of priorities based on audience and income.

Cooper declared "this is my house" and seemed determined to have everyone sat down as if at a theatre politely applauding. Only City fans. Away fans were given a free rein as has always been the case.

I doubt that very much, Rugby League attendances in Australia are very high.

Not according to some of the posters on the HDM forum today. Hull City are not far off amateur level according to them.

It was a joke. I remember on RH phone in years ago some clown was on about how RL was booming and even claiming it was hugely popular in North America. The presenter, can't remember who it was, obviously not Gollum, soon deflated him by telling him not to be daft lacrosse was more popular.

The Australian crowds aren't that massive, 14,966 average per game. That is way below the average for the Championship. I think both Aussie Rules and rugby union average more though the total for union is lower as they play less games.

    Ah, right. <ok>

Aussie Rules get over double the attendances.

Imagine thinking RL, particularly in the UK, was anything close to a 'high level' of sport.

It's not even high level RL.
