Proposed sale in respect of 2021 was the context used by Blackstone Chambers. Suggestive that it is ongoing.
Think of it as if you were trying to sell a house or a car to someone who couldn't get insurance, then they pulled out. What exactly is your legal challenge going to achieve? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ashley can actually sell the club to PIF regardless of PL approval - you just need the approval to play in the competition. PIF can own NUFC today, they just would have to argue about the directors and the clubs affiliation to the Premier League. Hence why it's on the buyers to challenge the legality of the O&D test. That isn't happening. In fact, a more reasonable approach would be for the club to change hands and THEN the owners fight the PL, something they would win comfortably. If they were really interested.
But it's not buying a house or car and that is the mistake people are making. You don't have to go through an ODT to prove that you will be a responsible owner of said house or car. Your insurance company doesn't ask you to prove that you will be a responsible driver.
You can remember I told you that! West Ham were looked at prior to the NUFC bid and West Ham and the Goverment are keen for that sale to go through. PIF have turned their attention to investing in the capital and made deals with the Government in return. I'm going to enjoy it.
You’re reaching with that one tbh, the legal action relating to the proposed sale doesn’t mean the proposal is still current, merely that his action relates to the proposed sale that didn’t end up completing.
As I said, if I'm not wrong, anybody can buy the club - you have to then ask PL for permission to play in the league, and that test is prohibitive to (mainly) criminals, or those who would be perceived as criminals in the UK. PIF could buy it then argue it, I'd imagine PL would allow NUFC to 'play on'. They haven't. It's a big question mark.
Anybody with no concept of the value of the club and a spare £310m can. Sadly I think those two things - knowing its value, and having the cash - are mutually exclusive. In other news, Nick's CV has now had NUFC removed from it. There's no longer reference to proceedings against the PL. (NB. no doubt the believers will say it's a good thing it's not on his CV anymore!!)
