This game will show us what Audi is about, and show Audi where his squad is really sitting in the big picture.

    Mendy

    Dave Silva Rudiger

    CHO Kante Gilmour Alonso

    Ziyech Mount

    Werner

No Jorginho, no Pulisic ( who is sounding like a Tuchel sycophant)

Hoped we might squeeze James into the starting 11 and rested the underperforming Werner, for anyone to be honest. Think Havertz might play though.

James could easily replace Dave, but that would be tough on Dave. Havertz is likely to start in place of Mount. Think our Audi is keen for Havertz and Werner to play every game, in order to show he is the man to get them firing, but that pesky Mount keeps on being better than Havertz. My thoughts are Giroud is wrong for such an attacking game, Abraham is still not good enough, and if ever Werner is to come good, this is his best shot. One can live in hope.

Three games, no goals conceded, Mount still brilliant, Werner better but not doing what he was brought for, great work rate and better passing tonight. CHO lively good shift James excellent rest of team just well done, but I have to give a special mention to the player I refer to as Ze Slug I may have to give him a new name he showed tonight why is is in the team. Well done Jorginho. Hope Thiago is't out to long looked a niggly one hope its not a bad injury.

Agree completely, Jorginho looks like he's had a Turbo charger fitted and Sat Nav to show him how to pass forwards.
Observations and little quibbles. Pulisic is not as good as CHO at the moment, Alonso looked a tad slow all game, Christensen needs to up his attacking skills and long passes. Lack of goals still a problem ,but at least we had a few more shots. Werner edging ever closer and really putting in.
Really good win, and top effort from everyone, especially Kova who was terrific.

Reserving judgement on Tuchel for time being. Is this a " new manager bounce " or something bigger ? Big improvement in some areas. More solid at the back and best midfield performance in ages...Kova and Jorginho excellent. Mason is the real deal and we have a legend in the making. The big plus is he is Chelsea through and through and shouldn't need too much persuasion to stay that way ! Top 4 is back on again. We will know the lie of the land come the end of this month by the time we have played Utd. Have to admit, after beating Spurs, i'm not as happy as i should be....still gutted for Frank that things didn't work out.

Also sorry for Frank. Tuchel couldn't have done more than he has, so top marks to him, but it's nothing Frank couldn't have done either, had he just been that bit more creative. My guess is he felt himself under great pressure to succeed, Tuchel has been there and done that, and only signed for 18 months, so he is more than happy to do his best and if it doesn't work out, off he goes to another top job. Not suggesting he's not going to be a big success or not caring, just that he doesn't feel the pressure Frank did.

Great result.Always liked 3 at the back (Conte was the master) just seems to suit our players.
The lack of goals is my worry, could of cost us last night after we had been the much better side.
No way can he drop Mount for Havertz, but WTFDIK.

You know plenty, and no one would disagree. Mount and CHO look to have convinced Audi they are top notch., and rightly so. Three at the back rarely wins the PL, and I hope Audi has another set up in mind. With Ziyech (who I think is miles from match fit) and Pulisic ( who is not as good as I thought, and definitely not as good as he thinks of himself) we do have brilliant front runners. There is something about Pulisic I really don't like. He's one of those players who looks like he thinks he's entitled. Every challenge he stays down, raises his arms, rolls his eyes at the ref. Don't like it. Maybe he's simply American. I think he's a snake but can't tell you why. Still need a serious striker and a serious mid field general before we can even dream of winning anything. Plus all of our front players need to practice until they drop, how to score.

Give me 3 at the back every time.We need defenders that play well together and someone like "Kante"
sitting in front of them.Chuck in 2 speedy wingbacks that can defend and attack and you've got a great chance
in this league.......If Audi can do this with a plan B,we'll do well.

Hopefully Tuchel will get the best out of Kante, which Lamps, Sarri never did.

He is not an out and out DM (like say Makele) as the so-called experts labelled him. So far, he has never excelled as the DM in a midfield three (like under Lamps).

He was all at sea positionally, although I am sure he can learn. But his energy, engine and pressing are wasted if he has to stay in position as a DM.

Anyway TT realises he is at his best pressing and recovering the ball in a double pivot playing alongside a more static no 6 (see Matic and Kante under Conte).

When asked what he thinks Kante’s best position is, Tuchel said: “I think he is the strongest in the double-six, in the centre, the heart of the game.

“For me he is a double-six because we can use his energy, his range in his game, his ability to recover the ball.'

It may well be the performances on the training ground by said young Gilmour that is driving the current incumbents in our midfield to do better, he is a real talent at such a young age and one of them will have to make way for him some time soon. TT likes him according to the CFC app and will be choosing what he thinks is the right game to do so. I do wander what may happen to Chilwell mind having said that Alonso was a little lack lustre the other night, but that is what you get with him one minute world class next.... you fill in the blanks.
