I am not sure that the signing of Gosling is related to Quina's loan to Granada. Two midfielders (Capoue and Garner) had left Watford and Dele-Bashiru has a long term injury so midfield was an area where they already needed to strengthen.
Not sure about Garner's departure - negotiations to sign Gosling predated that, so something must have been in the air. If it was only to strengthen the midfield, we're now back to square one and still need to. Maybe the guy from Rennes will turn up today?
Worse thing they did was that statement in the summer . Made a lot of people think we were going to spend big and ensure promotion would be easy . When the reality is we are short of cash and unable to pay the bills (wages ) these footballers demand) I suspect .
Relegation, Brexit, the pandemic, the finances are under huge pressure as a result. Navigating our way through all this and gain promotion will be tough but not impossible.
If Dennis's son is a fraction of the player he was at Arsenal he could be the bargain of the decade for us
Djibril Toure - the youngster who signed last year but only came here on 1st January - has gone on loan to Charleroi SC for the rest of the season.
U23s playing Bristol City in Bristol - 50 minutes in and the score is 1-1 after Hutchinson equalised City's first half opener. For some reason, Watford's Twitter account isn't reporting on the game - only Bristol City's...
Lost 2-1. Club seem to lose interest in the youth teams sadly . Or just fed up of any news ending up with silly comments being made . The media team have nothing to do with what the club do transfer wise. They just report on the news .
Yes - a productive free kick and people in the area ready to score! No wonder all these ex players say the game now is too slow and negative.
Much is made of Sema coming on in this article, but he has been out injured. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/19061055.xisco-munoz-needs-change-improve-watford/
Yes - I think if anything we could have given Phil Z a go. Was a waste having Hughes out wide. Mind you who knows if it would have made a difference. We seem to be on the back foot a lot - I know there were 2 full backs missing but still should it make us that bad? Didn't help they actually won the game - a draw I think people would be a bit less negative and angry in their reaction.
The 'continental' influence as far as I'm concerned. Every team's tactics in attack seem to consist of sideways passing while the opposition defence trots to & fro across the pitch in two lines. It's like watching table football except the players aren't stuck on rods - although some may as well be...
Going by these comments the Manchester United clearly din't think Munoz was the man to help James Garner improve: In the local Manchester paper. Garner joined Watford in the summer but his loan spell was cut short in January with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explaining the appointment of Xisco Munoz led to United believing his development would be better served elsewhere. He said: "Jimmy has played quite a bit lately, but when the new manager came in we felt and they felt that it was right for him to find somewhere else." Or maybe they think he won't last 2 moths so want the lad to play for a more settled side? I mean there are already calls for Munoz to be sacked. Don't we have to give him a bit of time? Cannot keep sacking managers and then basically getting a weaker less experienced one in. Get someone in to help tactically maybe. Is it really promotion or bust for us? - goodness me if we get promoted with this lot we'd need about 20 new players anyway.
If we get back to full attendance by fans by the start of next season then financially it shouldn't a case of promotion or bust I think the only really expensive players now are Deeney and Gray Not going up might give the team management an opportunity to rebuild the squad and recruit some players that can compete in the Championship and the Premier League I still can't believe we did no sign Toney for £10m, whoever was responsible needs moving on to a smaller club I wonder if Luton would take Gray of our hands
I feel that the author is expressing his own frustrations, but to assume that he is speaking on behalf of most fans is just wrong. I felt that with Pearson we had taken a step in the right direction, but something went badly wrong behind the scenes. What it was I have no more idea than the author of the letter, so cannot say that Gino was right or wrong. It is easy to say that players do not perform as we believe they can or should. There are countless big name signings going to much larger clubs than Watford that raise expectations, but for whatever reason fail to bring the promise of success that the fans expect. This letter seems to me to be one from someone who feels entitled to watch players and the team that never put in a display that is below his expectations. Football is one of those things that by its very nature has to produce winners and losers, promotion/relegation, yet it is possible to be one of those clubs that spend most of their existence in the same division year after year. If you support such a club does it stop you hoping that next season will be the one that lifts your team up a league? The success of being in the EPL for several seasons is great, but no Watford fan is entitled to expect us to be there every year.
Yes good points What are they going to say anyway? "We tried to get players in but for whatever reason some didn't come whilst we have a lack of revenue and heavy wage bill to cope with (I suppose you could argue 70k for Gray is too much but easy to say now) " And I don't really see why there is a demand to sack Munoz now - it's hardly like we'd appoint some great super coach with loads of experience and a proven winner. We had 10 points form 12 before the other night and whilst that was a poor performance it would be very knee jerk even for the Pozzos to sack another manager. Anyway that would cost more money and take it out of the club again. Sure the lack of goals is a worry but sacking managers isn't going to change that and I mean even Norwich aren't scoring loads. Clubs like us will always get relegated eventually and whilst I suppose it could have been avoided we probably would have not gone up with them giving us a load of talented players and having an in form Deeney. I am sure we will cope if we don't go up this season - we always do! I mean we managed to reach 2 semi finals under Lewington whilst on the brink. As you say OFH there a lot of clubs who don' enjoy any sort of success.
