In years to come people will berate McCann for playing a weakened team tonight like Bruce and Lokeren in 2014.
Tbf despite the conditions being fkn atrocious that wasn't a bad game in all honesty .. some stand out performances and some that should hang their heads in shame .. I think its fair to say when its a heavy pitch we aren't at our fluid best but Doc .. KLP and Crowley were terrific for most part .. Magennis Scott and Slater can do one for me .. complete waste of spaces the lot of em
Legit devastated, don't care if it's some tinpot cup. It's a chance to get back to Wembley and win something.
Cracking game on a glue pot of a pitch. We had a couple of players not at their best and one who was outstanding. Always disappointing to go out on penalties and KLP should have won in for us in the last minute. Concentrate on the league.
Not sure I agree with Bryan Hughes about them having the psychological edge in the next game. We'll be so much up for that (or better be) to right the wrong of tonight. Minimum requirement of 9 points from next 3 games to set us up nicely for Donneh.
Yeah, but players were ****ing used to playing on them. Now current players can't play properly if the grass is 2mm too long.
Promising signs for the league game at least. We won the midfield battle, created more good chances than them, and generally looked the better team. On the other hand we keep not taking good chances and some players were at best, ordinary. However of the starters, the worst performers were Magennis, Slater and Emmanuel none of whom will be playing on Saturday. I'd also rather have Docherty, Crowley and Honeyman ahead of their supposed star, Jorge Grant.
That was one of the worst displays of penalty taking you could wish to see. Elder and one of theirs excepted.
And to rub it in they started playing it at Wembley the year after. We would have taken more down there for that with home crowds of 6,000 than we did for a play off final.
He definitely ****ing was, have you seen him? please log in to view this image That is the look of a man who has lived for thousands of years by feeding on the blood of the innocent.
You are comparing those tinpot places to the pioneering, innovative metropolis that is the City .of Culture?
Maybe I'm the only one but I was surprised at how little Lincoln showed going forwards. Whilst we saw glimpses from Grant, Johnson and Scully they certainly didn't terrorise us. I felt we were the better team and probably should have nicked it but we didn't create enough. Keano probably scores if its a decent pitch though. Docherty is getting better and better, how we got him for £300k I've not got a clue. I really fancy us to do a job on them next week now.
And they were 'interesting' then. Why do you always do this Castro? Not a lot was better 150 or even 50 years ago.
I thought Lincoln were better than us. They were sharper from the off and they scored. They then seemed content to soak it all up, which they did until Doc's wonder goal. Then they came back at us and though they didn't score I thought they looked the more likely to. They were direct and organised throughout, we fanny about too much and carry too many passengers.
